Joe Achilles picks up a Z4 M40i

Post by Argyll Andy » Sun Feb 06, 2022 12:35 pm

  Mmmmm, just my spec the ACS pack but I’m not struck on their wheels so mine would would probably be very pretty similar. This also confirms my choice that it wouldn’t be black :o

Good that it’s covered for three years but the question I’m waiting on an answer on is will it be covered by BMW extended warranty after the 3 years, that’s the important one for me 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

G29 M40i Thundernight with Ivory interior, all option packs (here for a while, hopefully )
G29 M40i Misano Blue all option packs (Gone 26k of fun)
E89 35iS, Valencia Orange, Design Pure Traction pack (Gone)
    E89 23i sDrive, Silver (Gone)

You'd think it would Andy, BMW and AC go pretty much hand in hand obvs, doubt they'd cover the car with mods for just 3yrs only.
M roady...OEM CSL’s, strut brace, Remus back boxes, ZHP
    MR2 MK 2
E89 35i project car...mapped 365bhp, M4 stoppers & wheels, KWV3’s, H&R front ARB, M3 front arms, strut brace Eisenmann cat back race exhaust, VRSF downpipes inbound

I’ve asked the question John so I’ll see what they come back with, just wondering if it’ll be a significant hike in premium :tumbleweed:

I hope that JA pushing the Z4 doesn't lead to the M140i thugs jumping into Z4s. The 140i has become such an ASBO car now :(

Won't happen Russ....the chav 'hard brigade' run around in packs of at least 4 or 5 if they'll fit in one car so they don't get beaten up by one guy when they're being dicks. Two seats is not nearly enough for the 'tough bunch'.....

My thought as well. Not enough space for them. They usually go for hot hatch like the M140i but less likely go for the coupe version which is m240i. So they may stay away from z4. However, I guess the video may attract more people to the z4 in the short term so the used car market for z4 may go up a bit further considering the new car delivery issue. But in a longer term, people who is looking into this type of cars may not easily be affected by a YouTuber although I like Joe’s channel.

However, this video makes me interested in the ACS engine upgrade.

From my understating, ACS no longer are affiliated with BMW. they split back in 2007.

I wouldn’t mind the engine upgrade which is a simple box, but I won’t do it if I can’t keep my full warranty from BMW and be able to extend it.

      Keep me informed please.

Saying that it’s a £4,000 upgrade! Big money!

It is when you consider it’s doing the same as a JB4. You’re basically paying for a warranty… and how good the pay out would be on that warranty, I wouldn’t like to say.

Russ, says they cover everything BMW won’t because of the upgrades. Iirc when I initially investigated this I found something saying something like £15k engine limit and £8k/£10k gearbox

My issue is what happens after the 3 years quoted. Do BMW refuse everything possibly relating to ACS or do ACS offer an extended warranty on their stuff and any possible side effects. That’s what I’m waiting on the answer for

My answer to this would be…

Don’t bother. It’s a box that is conning the sensors. I find them all a bit of a hack. It’s one think saying there’s a warranty. It’s another trying to get people to pay out.

Just remember, JA is nothing but an undercover salesman for BMW and associates. I can second guess how this plans out. Raves for the next 8 weeks about how amazing it is, gets the content out - and gets somebody interested enough to say that they can have that very Z4 complete with memorial plates. Somebody will buy into all the hype I’m sure. It’s marketing at work.

And he needs to wash that back numberplate before he gets in trouble with plod again!

Additionally, depending upon your whether you’ve bought the Z4 outright or have it on a PCP, if the latter, acs modifications would put you in breach of your contract.
