Another one joins the garage

Post by Babw » Sat Jan 08, 2022 7:29 pm

I've been thinking about one for awhile and seeing the prices go up significantly made me take the jump. Spider with 7k miles and I'm hoping to drive around NC500 and then keep going up through Norway late spring. Hopefully a few trackdays as well.

The steering and ride is on another planet, I can't quite get used to the 720S looks just yet but if I have a good experience with this one hopefully progress onto the a 675LT.

Thought about a lairy colour but I want to use it as a semi daily and the carbon black looks great up close without being too shouty.

My missus was a senior buyer for McLaren and probably sourced a lot of the interior parts for that motor.
Kept telling her to ask for a company car, but it never happened. Dammit!

To say I'm a tad jealous is an understatement!
Tbh though, I'd equally enjoy your same Spring road trip in a Z.
How far up Norway are you planning to go?
RAF took me to Bodo and the scenery there was awesome. There's a bridge over a 200m neck of water that feeds the sea through to a huge area of fjords. The currents are something else as the incoming tide meets the last one trying to get back out.
You can stand on the edge and go from perfectly dry to knee deep in water and back to dry in 30 seconds.
I'm told it is the origin of the word maelstrom.

Not too shabby, that.
I would buy one but it won't fit in my garage. The bank manager said no, aswell. :D
My best friend's son will have done the Quality Control inspections on that.

Beautiful, I'd have gone for a bright colour, but I'd probably regret it with all the attention it would bring. Anyway a car like that looks and is special without needing silly colours. Not that I could afford a bright colour. Or black...

My cousin's wife's taxi driver once met Bill McLaren. :poke:

Well... it is not common knowledge, but Bill McLaren actually shares his surname with the founder of McLaren Automotive, Bruce McLaren.

Was the McLaren connection a factor in asking your good lady to marry you Martin? 😉

Make sure you have enough petrol, because it may sink if you slow down on the way across. :)
