Yes they use Alcon brakes but how often are these going to be changed - just make sure they are good when buying

It would have to be the 250hp one, though, Sean as the 270 has stupid expensive brakes. There are two 250hps for sale ATM so not a great deal of choice :o

You posted just before me! :headbang:

Not much kit missing, bigger wheels / LSD / brakes and seats are different and that is it so maybe look around

I can remap the 250 to 300hp for £300, and it's the same spec (apart from the gold brakes) so if I can find one then happy days

If it’s the 308 you’re talking about there are options.

https://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/discs ... ells-.html

Might be others out there as well. If it’s a car you like and the brakes are stopping you (haha) from buying then it’s worth doing a little digging.

It’s a tough ask to get something that ticks all your boxes and is interesting/fairly quick.

I have had quite a few PSA group cars and never had any trouble, in fact the 208 Gti was a great car to throw around and much more interesting than a VAG product and I worked for VAG for a few years.

The only car I would really want from that stable is an old Quattro

£650 for a pair of discs for a hatchback (plus pads) is still too much. As I said earlier, the 250hp version comes with standard brakes which are £30 a corner so if I will go that route if it comes to it.
I am beginning to realise that finding something that fits the bill is tough.

She doesn't care. She only cares what it looks like and has sat/nav and pdc. Funny though as she was excited about getting the Z4 over an MX5. Birds, eh??

The irony is that the Octavia is a Golf, so there seems little point binning one for another one in a different frock (for more money).

Fair enough, I can’t say I’d be too thrilled with that kind of bill on what should be an affordable daily car!

Having looked on autotrader, it seems that you’ll have to be flexible on one or more of your criteria or simply throw more money at the problem!

The issue is going to be the same as the Corsa is a 208 which is a Citroen C3 - all companies need to share platforms these days.

In fact the Ka is actually the same as a Fiat 500 underneath.

There does appear to be less and less interesting cars these days - more SUV appearing weekly though :headbang:

My recent experiences are all rentals, generally PSA or Ford and they have all been dismal to drive. It is very rare I get something from VAG or even Skoda, but if I do then I must say the whole experience is so much better.

I suppose you could say the same about the Alpina though, just another frock but it is more than just that.

Thing is are you getting the low end as rentals and yes I would agree a standard golf is better than a standard 308, 208 V Polo then I may go Polo for quality but it is so bland IMHO.

If it is a hot hatch then the 308 will certainly push the Golf but it is far rarer than the VW product.

It is horses for courses and occasionally I see a Golf GTi and think I could live with one of those but 9 times our of 10 I think its boring and common.
