Just have a look at the link in my former post.

The date code from the picture is 2136, that is week 36 in 2021, less than a year old. What should we see? The risk of a destroyed hydraulic pump arises after 5-10 years.
The 2136 is the new one I put in.

Previous were 1202. (Original to the car)

Salmon Relay Change

I have a receipt from the previous owner of my car detailing…

‘Carried our diagnostic into roof fault and confirmed one side rear mech sensor is required however they require replacement in pairs.
Replaced osr and nsr micro switches for the rear lid compartment.’

Does this sound like salmon relay changes based on them failing?

OMG.
The explanation of a mandatory double-sided repair is nonsense! This instruction does not exist from BMW.
I'm pretty sure it was a broken wire as those switches in the roof shell almost never fail.

Nevertheless, where do you see a match between switch and relay?

Salmon Relay Change

I am going to replace the salmon relays, just to be on the safe side.

I have seen a video that disconnects the negative terminal of the battery first. That seems like a sensible precaution (if somewhat over cautious), but there is no indication of whether there is anything to do once the battery is reconnected. Does anything get confused with just a few minutes' loss of power, or is it as simple as just reconnecting it?

You don't have to do anything apart of simply replacing the two salmon relays by pull&push!

Salmon Relay Change

Well that's the easiest £50 I've saved in a long time! I couldn't get the relays clear of the bracket without undoing the T20 Torx bolt. Once I did, it seems I was preempted by the previous owner just under a year ago.

Easiest job ever. Took 2 minutes 45 seconds (including discon/reconn the negative terminal).

Well, as this task is not required, it only took 10 seconds to replace the two relays. :driving:
