Bought a stormwerks gear change knob replacement - but cannot for the life of me (and others stronger) pull the goddamn existing knob off - any ideas?

I had a similar issue.
Ended up with the roof down, standing over the top and yanking away until it finally let go!
Neighbours looked a bit worried as all they could see was me bobbing up and down with my hands down by my knees (ever the optimist)

Hopefully blowtorch is a desperate joke.
You'd melt the plastic inside and weld it on even tighter, plus associated damage around that area.
If it is really, definitely, absolutely not going to move then I guess you'd have to sacrifice the old knob by carefully cutting away at it until you can loosen it.
Don't twist it as you may damage the locating flat that holds it in the right orientation. In fact that may have happened already and someone has glued it??

Presumably the one already fitted is indeed the original OEM version and not one added by a previous owner...?

If a previous owner has glued it on, maybe a hair dryer would soften the glue a little.

Have you tried putting 2 pieces of wood either side of the knob and holding together with tape. You could then stand over the knob, hold each end of the wood and wiggle up and down while pulling. Sort of walking it off. You would also get more leverage.

Go to a garage, put it up on the ramps, tie the knob to the rafters, lower the ramps. :D

No tattoos and far too skinny

I’ve just noticed it’s also utilising the two bits of wood technique MikeyH, suggested earlier

Anyway, we're nearly at the end of the first page and the thread has wandered a little so I'd better just say...........
