Exterior Front Windscreen seals for 2004 Roadster
Looking to purchase some new seals for the windscreen to replace the existing ones which have perished. Any information about exactly what is needed and possible suppliers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

As bg1 suggests main dealer . I have recently bought a seal for mine and the best price was from local BMW dealer parts dept . Check https://www.realoem.com/bmw/ for your model .
Montego Blue E86 . MILV`s . Simpson Custom Manifold Race Exhaust . xHP transmission stage 3 . VT engine mounts . BC RA coilovers . H&R arbs . Adjustable rear camber arms . Ultra Racing front strut brace . Drexler LSD .

Chipped windscreen in the right area would get it replaced for the excess.

I take it that it's item 1 on RealOEM (51317017021 Cover, windshield)
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpa ... Id=51_4863
I never realised this came as one piece. Should have been obvious and I now wonder if this has been the source of my water-ingress issues for years.
At the top of both vertical sections (A-pillar) of my windscreen it looks like a 1 inch section has been cut , then replaced at some point before my ownership. THe passenger side section has disappeared and I filled in the gap with some mastic as a temporary measure but I still wonder if water is getting in.
Did someone post up a how-to of how to remove/replace this rubber strip.
30 European Euros at my local stealer. Won't break the bank!
Edit: Found this link to zed4me's youface channel. Looks like a piece of p!ss to do aswell:

Tried replacing mine recently but for the life of me can’t get it to seat properly along the top. Sides are dead easy, but the top won’t hook under the glass and roof no matter how hard I try. Anyone got the magic tip?

Right- any other tips than what technically qualifies as insurance fraud? I’ve seen the vids making it look dead easy, but reality seems more resilient in my personal experience

I’d argue that if you are fully comprehensive it doesn’t really matter how damage is caused. You could drive into oncoming traffic and they would pay the value of the car.
My first call would be to autoglass and explain the damage and leave it to them. You pay them the excess and let them make the claim if you’re worried you’d lose DBS status.

Technically you are right of course, but given the way most insurance companies try to stiff us every year and are generally such a PITA to deal with, I think Gollum deserves some leeway here.

As an example I drove my TVR Cerbera into autoglass many moons ago and asked if they would give me a price to replace my delaminating windscreen.
The technician went out to take a look and said it’ll cost your excess mate. Just don’t mention the Delamination when you book it in.

By no means is it intended as a jab at Gollom; it’s the principle in general that irks with me personally. I do agree: most insurance companies are worth the same loyalty as they give when we need them. In other words: sod all.
Rather, I personally don’t feel comfortable lying- whether it’s big or small. Just don’t like it. That doesn’t mean I judge others by the same merit; I can only judge my own actions, and am by no means entitled to do so about others.
As a sidenote: in the Netherlands we’re subject to a very different system. No annual renewal, you build NCB every year. Any claim affects that to a larger extent than the costs of having a new trim fitted. With the UK system, I’d probably feel the same; if I get shafted annually, I might as well get something out of it
