Had a pleasnat morning with PeeblesZ4 trying to sort out why his mirrors don't fold on the fob but do on the buttons in the cabin.

Used Protool to scan for errors, cleared them and recoded all to no avail..will ahve to do a bit more research..

Then tried to code the 'Perfor  mance brake' option as Stu now has my old 35is brakes..I couldn't find it in the DSC coding section..

It was there when I coded them on my 20i so was perplexed.. :tumbleweed:

Discovered today it was not in the DSC coding but its an option in the Vehicle Order /CAS..ie its a 'goodie' so needs to be 'added' to the car..that's the trouble when you use these tools infrequently..will recode Stu's when we meet for our Z4 Scotalnd Christmas Lunch

Was studing Stu wrap on the front as I may try that on the 35is prior to a proper paint version if I like.

Both of us disappointed to see the wrap lifting in various places..paint still has its uses..

The black finish on the centre part of the front spoiler works well.

I've never understood why people spend so much money to put some plastic film on their cars (PPF excluded). When I had my car paint corrected the workshop had in a number of very high end cars which had been wrapped or were in the process of being wrapped and not one of them looked good! Definitely in that situation it's a case of more money then sense as the paint underneath looked way better than the wrap in every case.

Silverstar, the motivation for both of us was to try a few colour changes to see how they looked..before making an expensive commitment..easy to put some wrap on a cross bar..not so easy to get the paint off if you have sprayed it..

Certainly this was my first close up of a wrap and for Stu and I it was disappointing on quality..

I think I put it across the wrong way, I wasn't talking about both of you who are using it to see how it would look but those that wrap their entire car in the stuff to change it's appearance.

Agreed. They mess up the lines and are terribly cheap looking IMO

Hi OP
just looking at your stunning car with interest .
I’ve played with a few black changes myself this year .
Black/chrome wheels, black mirror caps black /chrome front grills. Will do the roll over covers black next spring. I also did the front lower grills gloss black, just thought you might want to see how it turned out , think it might go quit well as an option with your setup, let me know what you think

It used to drive me crazy how those lower grills always look dirty no matter how much you clean them . So happy I did them now . Still thinking about the chrome side indicators too
Not sure if I will or won’t 😬

Did you paint the lower grills gloss black? I'm not sure how durable it would be. Also, did you remove the grills or do them in situ? Let's see a side pic with your wheels!

Yes , gloss black but with primer for plastic first . I’m in work but I’ll get the paint name this evening and post it on here it’s had about 9 months or so of wear and seems to be propping up ok , I washed it yesterday and looked at them for wear because of the salt on the road . Seem to be ok so far

I did take them of to paint them
The clips mean you have to push back towards the radiator to take out . Once painted and pushed in the holes, I used a hook type tool wrapped in tissue to pull back towards me to engage the clips , bit fiddly but if I can do it
