So, this bad boy turned up last week.....wowzers, what a weapon this thing is. It really feels like a race car that you can drive on the road. The motor is a masterpiece and there are some similarities to the S54 in that it can sound like a bag of marbles at lower speeds, but once you get it up to 9k rpm range it's a real event to the senses. Even at 5 years old, it's a car that draws so much positive attention, people taking pictures and coming over to chat about it. It's probably my all-time ultimate sports car, so feel very fortunate to now own one.

The speed at which this thing can take corners is simply unbelievable....relatively tight right-handers where I'd only go in at 40mph max in the Z4MC you can do at 70mph easily in the RS. The rear tyres being 325's provide phenomenal grip.

I'm going to semi-daily drive it, which is probably stupid, but f*ck it, whilst I still can you might as well. (I hope the single-mass flywheel doesn't become a pain, as it makes a right old noise in full automatic mode)

Thanks Byron. It certainly took a lot of back and forth in the brain for a few days to finally decide to part with £150k for a 5 year old car

......but I'm a car geek, so if it's your thing you might as well embrace it!

Thanks for the comments chaps....! The massive wing and lava orange is certainly not subtle and definitely attracts the local school kids to stop and take pictures of it. I don't remember ever seeing one of these on the road, so this one is going to get driven and used as much as I possibly can. I even took it to footie on Saturday and saw Roger Daltry (from The Who) on the A127 in a beautiful 1970 911 give the big thumbs up

It drives amazingly well, above speeds of 70mph it's crazy how planted and composed it is at taking bends. The ride is very composed and the suspension takes all the bumps and divots with ease. There's a bit of tramlining with those massive tyres, but you get used to it and never feels too bad. The PDK box feels a very different setup to that of the Boxster GTS, it's a lot more aggressive and doesn't like lower speeds, it almost feels like a single clutch in character.

The cost to run one of these isn't quite as bad as you'd imagine. The two-year Porsche warranty is £1800 and whilst it's a 50 insurance group for me and the missus it's only £700 a year. Servicing isn't so bad either, every two years alternating between minor (£400) and major (£1000). It's got a silly small fuel tank (for weight saving) so you can only get £70 worth of fuel in it, which is a pain, but it averages 22mpg so not too bad.
