Service indicator lost track of calendar?

Post by DMike » Sun Oct 31, 2021 1:38 pm

Did a brake flush on my 2005 e85 today and while resetting the service interval indicator got a weird result: To begin with, the indicator was showing 2019 before reset. It was apparently not properly reset last time - can only blame myself, as I did the brake fluids last time, in Jan 2020. Now after doing the reset sequence from the instrument cluster, the indicator ended up showing Nov 2020 as the next service time. Any suggestions what is going on here? The battery has been disconnected on several occasions but that hasn’t been prolonged periods.

Service indicator lost track of calendar?

There have been threads on this in the past but no definite answers as to why it happens. The usual story involves service dates and resets being done out of sequence or the reset process not actually being completed properly which is easy to do, it usually takes me several attempts! Try another reset maybe?

Thanks, I’ll try do it again. There seems to be some mileage and/or time conditions that have to be met before a new reset of the service intervals can be done - ISTA said 21 days so trying it out in a week or so.
