Z4 G29 Delivery Delays

I read that when I was waiting for my G31 in 2020. Only cars delivered through BMW UK are PDI there. If it’s delivered through dealer, PDI still takes place at dealer. Both my G31 and G29 were PDI at the dealer despite the G31 was stored at the BMW distribution centre for 2 months due to first lockdown. The G29 was sent to dealer straightaway from Southampton.

Dealer video message update this afternoon: "...Your car is due to land any day now...due within in the next seven days...its with the delivery truck..."

I just hope that its a dry day for the ten mile drive home or perhaps more concerning would be snow/ice. I have SMBO's agreement to pop it in her garage for a day or two so I don't have to freeze whilst playing with all its 'features'.

Exciting news Peter! Will you take delivery this month or wait until March 1st?

Hi blaster1956 I’ve been told by my Dealer that I must take it this month if it arrives next week; not sure of the reasoning behind this but may be because of reduced margin because of the discount I negotiated.
Won’t be a ‘22 plate therefore but as I have my own plate to register it with no big deal as it will still be a 2022 car. Knowing the reg also provides me with the ability to stalk the likely delivery date by regularly checking it on the DVLA website.

I really don’t understand how widely different our delivery dates are. From the VIN decode mine was made on 20th January when was yours?

Of course there is no guarantee that mine will turn up next week and yours may arrive sooner than the w/b 28th, let’s hope so and remind ourselves that this is not a race!

Think mine had a build date of 21st Jan, then spent a week and a bit at the plant, now it's been at the port for a week or more. Not sure why it's being delayed but I see there is a ship leaving Cuxhaven this weekend for Southampton so fingers crossed mine makes it onboard!!

Although to be serious again I'm not planning to take delivery until first week in March anyway so as long as it doesn't slip any further then all is good!!

Be interested to know what deletes (if any) you ended up with on yours when you take delivery.

Just tell them you've booked a holiday and cannot pay any monies into there account until the 1st March when you return, it's hardly your fault that they are so late, why should you be penalised.

What else to do on a Friday afternoon but track down which ship your Zed is on.....

Just checked in with Genius and my order has changed to status 9620 (At Sea) which coincides with the Prometheus Leader leaving Cuxhaven for Southampton, and yes I am so sad that I found a webcam in Cuxhaven to follow the ship out of port!
