Central cubby storage- locked

Post by bigwinn » Fri Oct 15, 2021 6:50 pm

I've searched but wanted an opinion

The central cubby is locked despite:

removing the hard top
roof up/down
using internal lock/unlock button

I've prised it open and can see the button to open it is blocked by lock actuators.

Whats the usual cause of this- is it the actuator is u/s or is it a GM5 issue?

Best way to resolve- can I remove the lock?

Is there not a string in the boot that you can pull to release the lock?

Central cubby storage- locked

Never got to the bottom of mine being locked Stuart but found that this locked it solid. The string release in the boot didn't work for me either :(.

I removed the solenoid & found it operated fine with 12v applied. It just wouldn't work with the central locking so I just left left it out as I couldn't see much reason to lock the central cubby anyway.

If you can get in it you can push in the plunger on the release mechanism then disconnect the electrics. It won't lock any more but at least you can use it

Cheers Dave I did think/hope that may be the case

Easy enough to get to without having to take the central console apart?

No Stuart you'll have to remove the top part of the console as per this:

This is what I've done. At some point I shall get it all working properly but it's not important at the moment
