I'd be a little wary of relocating a motor that far gone into the boot on the grounds of it being a fire hazzard. If its sat against the boot carpet, rather than being in its original pod (as the pod is too large to hide behind a carpet panel) you'll need to consider adding some other kind of non flammable insulation perhaps, just incase it does burn out in the near future. ?

Good shout- appreciated. I may pop the original pod sealed outside the carpet for the time being; then get some fire retardant material. Thanks AlanNumber5 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 7:22 pm I'd be a little wary of relocating a motor that far gone into the boot on the grounds of it being a fire hazzard. I have to say Stuart, whilst I know there are budget constraints, I'd be patting myself on the back for reviving it, then fitting a new one!bigwinn wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 7:24 pmGood shout- appreciated. Well a fairly busy week means I've forgotten to update progress
Mainly winning, I think, anticipating the front bumper back from the body shop soon repainted and fixed...
Cleaned the front scuttle- wow. V dirty and blocked but no rust so thats good. Both wheel arch liners off for a good look again structure is good.
Vanos- full refurb done. Engine bay clean while all off so starting to look better. New water pump (OEM factory one was still on the car) plus thermostat, expansion tank, auto thermostat, spark plugs, oil/filter, air and filter and a new MAF.
Found the fault with the drivers window- burnt out motor so new one on the way and started to repair the hole in the drivers door arm rest.
Phase 1 (engine) now drawing to a close and its going to be phase 2: suspension and brakes next.
Stuart

Lots of front end action this week
New shocks, mounts, bushes, discs, pads, sensors et all.
New hub because of the snapped bolt situation and sorted the brake flexi too. New sway bar and drop links.
Wheels back on and onto the rear later in the week

Have you run out of petrol yet? I’ve been across to Kidderminster and back today in ours. Mostly motorways so 70+ and the gauge dropped quite quickly. So with your Lewis Hamilton approach it might be prudent to carry a spare can of petrol with you.bigwinn wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 8:17 pmIRD wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 8:08 pmLove the colour combo.
