New scissor lift sort of installed and tested..very pleased overall..like all things a few limitations and issues..but compared to grovelling around on the floor with a little car jack a major step forward..full review here..

That looks like a lovely bit of kit.
Similar to what someone in a now unmentionable shed used on my 2nd Z4!
But you're giving me serious garage envy.

So following on from the various realisations of how these scissor jacks work in practice , in regard to low slung cars , we used 10 8 by 2 boards to fabricate a chunky and multi option ramp system …
Now the Z4vcan be easily positioned and gets some much need centre clearance to get to exhaust system and prop shaft if required..
It looks a bit obstructive if you intend to use your garage as a play den, gym etc..however if you are using it as a garage the car footprint covers the whole area..

Maybe worth screwing a couple of wood blocks on the back of the boards as a physical stop so you can just raise the car and not have to bother looking if you're in the correct position. You've prob thought of that but one never knows....

John, strangely my dreams last night were thinking that one through..ideally need to cope with both front and rear end entries..
Measuring up this afternoon

That’s looks fantastic
The only thing that is puzzling me slightly is, is there enough clearance to swing the arms out with the car in position?
It looks like they’d foul on the wheels? Is it a case of driving over the arms and putting the lifting pads on the arms afterwards? Might be more straightforward than it looks, I’m sure it is
Brilliant set up though

Another issue was my ramp was a bit severe requiring an undignified amount of throttle climbing up two levels..so I cut it back into two more discrete steps..plus added a John end stop which works well..
Just now ensuring a good draft / water resistant threshold..

Yes the side arms are stowed in their inside positions as the car is driven on, then you swing them out to meet the jack points..it’s not clear but they slide in a channel about 250mm long so you can slide as well as swing if that make sense?
The pucks that take the load from the arms to the jack points obviously slide along so you are never in a position where something is not quite right..
The fact that the arms slide to an extent means that you can move the arm away from say a bolt under the car that is just obstructed by an arm..
