Yes, 2 filters.

Here's a list of parts that might be useful for the DCT service:

I'll get round to that over the winter..

Since reading this I've been paying attention to noise at motorway speeds, because this wasn't something that I thought rang true with my car. When cruising at 60-80 in mine, all you can hear is wind and tyres - the exhaust only becomes audible when you put your foot down or reach 3,000 revs. I wonder if someone has previously done the gold tee mod on your exhaust and the valve is constantly open? I'm pretty sure that in mine the valve is closed until you hit 3,000 revs which is 90mph in 7th.

The 35is exhaust is great on a stock car but it becomes a pain when you start to mod. It's the same problem with the 335i coupe.

If you add catless downpipes to the 35is it drones because of the lack of silencing. My 35i is fine, no drone at any RPM but my 335i has the louder BMW exhaust with it being the coupe and it'll drone at 3k rpm with the catless downpipes.

Hi depends where you live..round here we are constantly going up slight inclines so say at 50-60 you are using a bit of throttle and low revs..that’s when it really drones..

Given the stock nature of the car and minimal attention to anything..like one index 12 injector with 5 index 9 injectors and minimal servicing I doubt that the T mod was done…🙈

Oh dear..looks like I’m in for more droning…

Don’t really want to swap out the rest of the exhaust…

Any creative solutions?

I've seen people getting exhaust shops to fit extra resonators in the US.

It's easy to see if the exhaust mod has been done. The flap should be closed during cold start so you can visually check.

OK thnx..so on the 35 the exhaust flap is closed during start-up? On the N20 its the opposite.. :tumbleweed:

I used to be a project/ program manager in previous lives..in fact was the CEO of a Program Management software company 2000-2004… :tumbleweed:

Sadly my first port of call garage couldn’t even comprehend a simple spreadsheet 🙈

That's a very ambitious work order. Are you going to try reuse existing fixings and hardware or have you ordered fresh parts for that?

The idea is to take any 2.0 specific mods off your old yellow Z4 and put it on the orange Z4, then transfer any upgrades that'll fit the new yellow 3.0 Z4 and use the old 3.0 parts on the orange 2.0 and then return the old yellow one to stock before sale?

Hi…yes it’s a lot of work although logically there are some work threads which should allow an efficient execution of the program.

I’ve got a very big box of bushes, seals, clips, hoses etc so should be able to cover most things..

The garage has access to an hourly parts delivery service so hopefully we won’t get held up for want of a seal etc..

I’m impressed with the chap I’m using..he’s very well referred to by both the other garages I routinely use..

He’s multi skilled so most things shouldn’t defeat him, and his approach to a replacement diff which has had its main shaft nut incorrectly fitted indicates to me he’s not going to skimp especially as I’ve told him not to re-use / bodge anything..

The migration / mix program is more complex than you suggested so the 20i will end up as a super 28i + with lots of cosmetic goodies, steering parts and audio bits that were better than fitted.

So the 20i will still be a 300 bhp+ 450nm 28i version with cosmetic and handling trimmings …

Those parts that don’t fit the 35is and aren’t going on the VO 20i will be ebayed / forum-ide
