Post by sw4nny » Fri Oct 01, 2021 11:09 pm

I work as a manager in retail,I am getting pretty bored of the public at large telling everyone else how stupid they are for hoarding or panic buying ,same thing.yet all the ones telling me are doing the same thing with there own excuse for doing so,I have to get to work ,i have a long journey, yadayadyad.
The whole last 2 years has been caused by social media comments be it mainsteam news or twatter and faceache.
There is no shortage of fuel as there was no shortage of pasta and toilet rolls.just stop being a selfish gready bastard
as there is more than enough for all.
Foregive me if the punctuation and spelling is off in this post but I am past checking,I think most on here will get my point.

Panic buying fuel again

Just been to Tesco for a click n collect - filled the 335 with the oily stuff. No queues whatsoever and no price hike either.

That’s me done for another two or three weeks ( as usual)

We are in the south east, so nothing what so ever. The petrol stations are just closed.

Ran out of petrol for the lawnmowers though, that is getting annoying.

Panic buying fuel again

It does feel like we are really in a third world country now though. In the last month, we have been without water for almost a week, electricity is unstable and I am running generators to be able to work, no petrol or diesel and no gas for cooking as that has been panic bought as well

And you wont dare to fill a Gerry can when they eventually restock the tanks.

Didn’t realise you could do click and collect, do they have it ready in Jerry cans or do you get it straight from the pump, certainly saves queuing :D

I found a petrol station that sells red diesel on the pump, so that will sort my tractor and generators. The queue for the station was fairly big when I drove to the MOT Friday but at least I know it exists. Once there, I will get the Jerry cans for the lawnmowers as well. Normally I keep about 40 litres here for the garden but Sod’s law that was running low

I wish!
My Z4 is sitting in the garage with half a tank so a couple of 20l Gerry cans would have done the trick.
I always put the car into winter hibernation with a full tank so It will be topped up soon I hope- if not then it’s not the end of the world

No queues or closed garages here - although most have implemented a £30 or £35 limit.

I'm off to Germany on Monday, so thought I'd take advantage to fill up in the north-west (£29.45). Should get me all the way to Germany before I need to buy any more :P

If you drive through NL you will notice that even though the speed limit has been reduced, traffic is flowing at 140 km/h without issues.

It was very relaxing driving on the continent a few weeks back without worrying about cameras everywhere

I’m looking forward to a couple of trips ( or more) next year- I agree, it’s nice to sit at a decent / comfortable speed.
Even on the de restricted sections of Autobahn 100mph is a comfortable speed ( sometimes a bit more )

Panic buying fuel again

Apparently It's partly my fault. Filling a 10l can for the Quad Bike on Saturday morning a chap came over put his hands on his hips and told me it was people like me who caused all of this, I should be ashamed. Found it difficult to contain my emotions so if anyone else on here was on the forecourt I apologise for the crude Language. Enjoyed the Pony Drift though.

I had no problem this morning - haven't filled it for a few weeks but the X3 was down to about 1/8 tank so thought I'd better get some. I popped out to the local Tesco at 7 (when the station opens on a Sunday) and there were about 15 cars waiting - think they had some staff issues as they didn't get around to opening until 7:15.

Seemed to have plenty of petrol/diesel and no £30/40 purchase restrictions. The X3's tank is now full again so won't have to worry about fuel for another month or so.
