OEM Aero side-skirts

Post by Joneeboy » Wed Sep 22, 2021 9:34 pm

I had a quick chat with Skyer on Instagram about the Aeros.

Container costs have gone through the roof in the last 6 months from £2k to £16k!! So they said, if there is anyone over this side of the Pond who would be willing to distribute, a shedload of saving could be made.

I just don't have the time or space to take it on, but if there is anyone who has the time and could put a small percentage on top for their trouble, we could all save a few quid.

Just a thought...

Mr Tidy wrote: Mon Sep 06, 2021 8:59 pm It was lucky, but then Silver Grey seems to be one of the more common colour options as it was offered on all models. Sepang Bronze would be a real challenge.
Did someone say Aeros in Sepang Bronze? I think I may have the only set (in the Uk), so you are right that would certainly be a challenge, then again not many would want them in this colour🤣

Following your lead Mr Tidy, I will also add a picture😀

Looks like Skyer have released their prices on the aero skirts.
Priced up with shipping to the UK is -
Aero skirts - $687 reduced priced for the last 15 sets, then increases to $797 (panic buy methods).
Shipping to the UK $280
Then of course there’s the import taxes, and all of a sudden it amounts to a second hand OEM set if you’re able to find them. An interesting dilemma!
If only I’d of purchased one of the last sets the BMW had, hindsight is a wonderful thing! 😬

Delighted to say that I have secured a second hand OEM set of Aero side skirts. Did a deal with another forum member, who was selling his Aero equiped car.... and made a new friend in the process, a pleasure working with you on this  It's taken a while to sort as it involved him sourcing a set of OEM side skirts and getting them sprayed and fitted to his car, but we got there.
Skyer was my back up plan, but as you say Neilson, it's going to cost at least what a second hand set goes for.... if you can find a set. Skyer will need painting too on top of above costs.
Thanks everyone for bumping my wanted ad, appreciated

Congratulations!

I also managed to find a set of original OEM aeros in Japan that I shipped over. They’re already freshly painted and waiting to be installed. I actually have a set of Fiberglass skirts too, but I’d quietly always wanted an original set. The Skyer kit looks ok, but yeah, not so cheap once the extra costs add up

Just seen that these are fibreglass, which in my mind makes them very expensive. Think I’d rather get a used set for the same price even though they are like hens teeth.

Those Skyer ones aren't exactly cheap! But having bought a pair of OE ones via the forum last year I'm quite relieved. :D
Coupes because stunning!

That is expensive for fibreglass, I’ll wait until I win the lottery and then invest in the OEM ones. Just hope I can find a hen with a nice set of nashers! 😂👍

So my calculations tell me that 687USD equates to GBP500, correct? And used aero skirts are fetching around GBP1000.
And the opinion of most of the posters is, as the Skyer skirts are fibreglass, the cost is too much.
What am I missing here? :?

Vat and duty is chargeable on the total cost of goods shipped. (Somewhere between 25-30%). It been a long time since I imported stuff.
You might also have handling and admin charges for delivery this side of the water.
