As discussed in another thread, I'd like to re-post it here:
There exist 2 different versions of these 296 rims! The elder ones are critical and might crack, the newer generation is fine.
Have a look at the following thread in the German ZRoadster forum:

Might bring some welcome relief to some 296 owners, you can just make out the slight change in shape of the inner barrel without the pencil too

296 rims - how to identify your's
Thanks for the post Robbi, but I'm no further ahead.
Are the 296 rims he's referring to the same as 326 (excuse my ignorance)?
Google translate is spoiling things " left old, right new old new old new ", and the photos are really not very clear.
Is there an easy way to tell whether or not you have the newer, improved wheels?

OMG, thanks for your hint!!
I've mixed up the different types, 326 and 296 - sorry.
The linked thread is in deed only for the 296 rims.
I've updated the title of this thread.
As a registered member you will see all pics in a higher resolution:
old version on the left, new version on the right old new old new

296 rims - how to identify your's
The pic description is just the order of the pics i think.. 6 pictures hence the old new old new are pics 3,4,5 and 6.. The old ones look almost flat in the barrel but the new ones have a more pronounced lip?SV8Predator wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 9:16 pm Thanks for the post Robbi, but I'm no further ahead.
