Brand New E21 3 Series

My E85 Z4 is the only BMW I've owned, although I had a 330e as a company car until recently.
Dad also only managed to own one - bought after a run of three brand new Audi 80s in the late 70s/early 80s. He only kept it for 3 years, although that was good going for him. As far as i can tell it was on the road until about 10 years ago.
Attached is a photo I took the day it arrived - last day of August 1983 I think. With all the shadows it's not a great photo, but look at those lovely clean wheel arches!
I did get to drive it a few times and remember the fit and finish being very impressive, especially compared with most other cars around at the time. I thought the single headlights of the 316/318 looked better than the twin items on the 320/323, and loved the big round instruments and the wrap-around dashboard which was as good as it got even in 1983.
It cost about £6750 back then. I wonder what a pristine one would be worth now?
