N20 golf tee mod question

Post by jamesgarbett » Wed Jan 27, 2021 1:15 pm

Were you able to access the hose easily on an N20? It seems easier to access on the 6-cyl models where there is a tailpipe on each side of the car rather than twin tailpipes on the left hand side

It almost seems like I would need to remove the rear bumper to access it and cap it off?

No need to remove the bumper, you can reach the pipe easily.

I didn’t bother, you can reach the vacuum pipe no problem. Get on the ground & look up, you can see what needs to come off :?

Thanks Rob I could see the pipe but couldn't really see how to reach the parts to cap them once the pipe is removed - just seemed like the bottom of the bumper was in the way - will have another look tomorrow

N20 golf tee mod question

Post by ori » Wed Jan 27, 2021 10:58 pm

I did the mod back when I had a 35, but I have to say the drone on the motorway drove me nuts! Rest of the time I loved it.
When I got the 35is, I didn’t bother and i rarely missed it. I think the 35is sounded better anyway.

Basically, just be be aware of the motorway drone.

However, from memory I didn’t need to jack car up. In fact I think I just kinked the pipe with a cable tie.

Thanks I feel like it might be easier on a 35 than the N20 due to the location of the exhaust pipes - just basing that on some youtube vids I've seen - but will try tomorrow

Hi, you pull the vacuum pipe off the actuator & cap the parts off - it’s that simple

Make sure you seal both ends of properly as it routes back to the brake servo reservoir!
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…
