So I’m close to tears.
Parked the car for 2 mins on a main road and came back to find someone has hit my car. Obviously this isn’t a side swipe and more someone doing a 3 point turn.
Now I’m not sure if this is an insurance job or I’ll pay privately, but I reckon it’s at least 2k to fix in which case it’s insurance.
Anyone have any clue?

There's a guy local to us, Scarborough North Yorkshire, who posts videos on Facebook of his work on dented and creased panels....some of which he spends hours on, particularly rear quarter panels and from the videos his work looks amazing.
However on saying that on a brand new motor with a bolt on/off panel/door I'd go the replacement route....I'd want it to be bang on perfect.
I'd be absolutely fuming if I was in your position, whoever did that knew they'd done it.

I was going to say that maybe paintless dent repair might work but it looks a bit too far gone for that.

I've been amazed in the past what the top PDR people can do but that looks too severe to me. I suspect a new door skin required from BMW and £300 - £400 to paint it (unless BMW can supply pre-painted)? For me, it would be an insurance job for sure - that's what it's there for at the end of the day.

Thats terrible! no witnesses or cctv nearby? lots of inconsiderate aholes out there! I saw someone in a supermarket car park a few months ago reverse into another car, he clocked me watching him and I hung about to make sure he didn't disappear! Ive got a cheap runabout to do all the dangerous stuff like supermarkets/carparks!

Damn that sucks! It looks like someone kicked your door , is it only the door that is damaged or the rear quarter panel also?
I paid 1400euro for a new front bumper, this looks more expensive to me.
I made the mistake of letting mine go through the car insurance, i had to go back ten times because they insisted it was repairable without replacing the bumper , in the end it cost me a lot more in lost time that i could have spent working.
So next time i will also pay for the replacement myself if the cost is less than 2000

That’s had a fair bit of force to crease like that under the mirror, I’d say a new door skin, doubt very much a pdr man could do much with it.
My initial thought was maybe someone pissed at you for parking over the white line, sounds crazy but there are folk out there with that kind of mentality, but it’s too severe for a couple of kicks.
It’s just metal Ori....a 100% s**t thing to happen but it’s just metal. You didn’t run a kid over that ran out into the road so you don’t have that undeserved guilt on you.

Not worth the labour cost to repair, a new door skin would probably be just as cost effective, and a better repair.
I had a girl in a Merc run into the the back of my 4 series a few years ago while I was stopped at traffic lights. It was at very low speed and left a crease in the bumper that had to be viewed in the right light to see it. It was fixed by BMW under her insurance, the bill for a new rear bumper skin and everything else came to a tad above £2000.

Sorry to see that in your brand new motor!
I had the most minuscule door dent in mine recently and I was fuming, so I can start to imagine what you feel like. Ive watched some amazing PDR videos on youtube that would get that out.. but as most say insurance looks like the way to go. although, not all repairers are any good - make sure you go back to BMW even if your insurer tells you not to. I had a new bumper fitted and always could tell the difference in paint colour... had to sell the car because it made me unhappy every time I looked at it... bummer either way!

Gutted for you ! You might have already done this but it might be worth knocking some doors or asking at business premises to see if there is cctv covering the area you were parked in ? Good luck, this happened to me last year and it’s not pleasant seeing your pride and joy damaged

Thanks guys. I know it’s only metal and no one was hurt which is the most important thing.
So I took it to my guy for a quote. I trust him as he does prestige cars like porsches and I’ve seen his work.
His words were very simple.
To try and repair the door on a brand new car is a non starter. It will never be 100% right. He also said it’s too far gone with the creases and lines.
Now here is the kicker. You get a new door you have to paint the whole side of the car including skirts and bonnet!
£2800!!!! So insurance for sure.
I’ve emailed the council to see if there is any cc footage. Let’s see.
The kicker is that obviously this will cost me money regardless and the person who did it has no shame or respect.

Already put in a claim. It’s going to Baron’s BMW as soon as they call me to get the ball rolling.
