Seriously though; swapping the block is probably the easiest bit. All the electronics and system communications is what scares me most in such an undertaking. Impressive stuff this
Dumping an engine in a hole like you say is the easy bit!! The wizardry that follows is big bit. I'd love one of these in mine. It would be an absolute riot to drive!!

Front Z4M rotors, 335i calipers and ferodo 2500 pads, rear stoptech rotors, ferodo 2500 pads. HEL braided hoses and motul 600 liquid

Finally no limp mode, test drove a few weeks ago, wheels were spinning through first and second gear.... crazy car. Still working on can-translator, but car is ready for certification and planned for end of next month. During the test got a ticket 😀
