A lot of these things are personal tastes..
So I’ve had a helpful chat with local BMW specialist Bartlett’s. It’s satisfying that they remember my M3 of several years ago. Damian Bartlett has given me a good price to supply and fit the front upgrade using 34110444738. Suggested this is more economical than after market option such as Brembo… he’s also aware of the settings change which will be needed, which is helpful. It was mentioned that some customers talk of softer feeling brake pedal when the BBK is added, prob due to a change in effort. So your advice about testing and trying is sound.

Anyway, it’s booked in with Bartlett’s for next Thursday!!

If it all goes wrong, on Friday I will have a BMW front brake kit for sale on here… :( Pictures will follow…

Hi Pbondar I’ve dropped you an updated DM today. Please let me know if you’ve got it. My account is showing it as Outbox (1) which makes me nervous of it’s whereabouts. A

Big day today.. having the front OEM brake upgrade fitted to my 23i by Bartlett’s in Huntingdon, Cambs. This is the …738 part specific for the 330i (I believe) which has been recommended here (and elsewhere) for the Z4. I’ll add some pictures when I get it back later, all things being well.

So I will attach a ‘before’ and ‘after’ shot… albeit the ‘before’ is the current rear but you’ll get the point as to why I’ve done this (front was similarly ‘industrial’ looking and a corroded disc. The …738 kit went in a dream I’m told.

There is a little troubled news, which is the courtesy health check has identified both rear alloys are cracked. Something to ponder now as to options, but that’s not for this topic.

Anyway, extremely happy with the new look - they look more impressive than the pics do justice - and will undoubtedly add to braking performance especially as my Z4 is an auto. Rears will be colour matched in a few weeks… A

I'm biased of course but I like the OE look of the kit

As I said you can toggle and even tweak the DCS s/w settings to set the 'feel up'

326m wheels are a liablity

5 spokes supporting a 19" wheel on low profiles seldom works for long..add run flats and its good night Vienna for most..

as your alloys look nice I'd get them welded as its fairly inexpensive vs a new set of wheels, but be aware they might crack again.

There's widely varying degrees of tolerance for the 326's on this forum. I've chosen to give mine a refurb (as well as welding), running on non runflats, and hoping they will last.... My wallet may still regret that choice though if they crack in the near future!

Thanks clarker63 I like them and they do look great in the darker shade. I will get a second opinion to see if they are recoverable, but I’m also cautious as Peter has flagged too… I’m seeing it as an opportunity to consider OE and alternative rims. Now, please excuse me, I’m off down the garden to pick some more cash from the money tree, metal detect for treasure and pan for gold

hi Just reading through this thread... and interested to do this... Did you get the '35i rear callipers from the US just so you could refurb them and not lose the use of your car, or was there another reason. I have just compared the 35i and the 20i realoem parts list and they seem to be the same?

Cheers...
