Douglas Park Hamilton

Post by Spikey » Sun Jun 07, 2009 8:22 am

Thought I would share my last experience with this Bmw dealer with you all.
My last E39 had fuelling problems, they had it in three separate times before they reconned they knew what the problem was, promised this was it they had worked it out and needed it in for two days.
Gave them it on the Monday but warned them I needed it back for a long trip to the Scottish islands on the FRiday night.
Well called 4pm Tuesday, not ready, Slipped to wed then thurs then kicked up Friday morning, they said come collect at 3pm it's fixed.
Arrived and was left waiting for two hours, kicked up with manager. Got the car back running good now.
Went home packed and had a great weekend in MUll (winter time though) so at 3pm on Sunday lifted the lid to check fluids....
Horror story - no engine cover (cowling?) no zircon filter covers or filters, spagetti junction wiring everywhere !!! Couldn't beleive it.
Came home, back to Dodgy Park in the morning, much embarrasment all round ....AND ...they couldn't find the bits, probably in the bin.

Had to go
Away and come back next day for car, all ok when collected.

Just could not comprehend how this warranty repair at a £100 an hour rate garage was so poor

There you have it......stay away
:headbang:

Couldn't agree more. They're idiots. DP in Glasgow is a different story though and they're not bad. I only take mine there as the only other alternative is John Clark in Dundee and they're too far away. There's a guy in Glasgow that's an M specialist and is really good. Stay away from Harry Fairbain too, they've truly become part of the Arnold Clark group with rubbish service and quality to match the best of Arnold's dealers.
2007 z4mc carbon black - gone but not forgotten. The guy I sold to still has it, maybe one day I will buy it back.
Now - Maserati Gransport with many mods. Sounds incredible.

AC have had Fairbairns for a while now.

I need some minor warranty work done on mine soon, think it will be going to Douglas Park in town.

Yup DP in town are the best. I can't remember the guy's name there Jamie but there's one tech who is a proper M specialist. Ask George Morrison when you meet him, he knows the guys name. Also good is John Clark in Dundee but it's a fair drive etc.

wouldn't touch douglas park in hamilton with a bargepole they have more apprenctices than technicians and barely any of the technicians are bmw trained (they go through staff so quick they don't bother training them properly)

also their apprentices are all lagta trained and not bmw trained of which there is a huge difference in the training level/standard

i'd put money on it it was done by one of said apprentices while being unsupervised this place really is not a good dealer to trust imo

anon.

To be honest, my experience of Harry Fairbairn Giffnock has been topnotch. Was actually speaking to the salesman who sold me my car who said they don't like to publicise the Arnold Clark connection if they can help it.

I have a colleague in work who bought an '06 2.0 Z4 last week (cause he liked mine so much!) from Douglas Park in Glasgow. Apparently they knocked £1000 off the price for him before it was even in the garage (which makes me think they're talking bollocks or desperate to sell a complete lemon of a car!). Since he picked it up, he's found out that AC isn't working, cigarette lighter isn't working, gear box seems to have difficulty getting in to first gear and clutch is acting up. Add to this a few scratches which don't look like they've been repaired by anyone halfway competent. And all of this being sold as an AUC!
