As some of you may be aware Bowser on here has set up his own garage. After having some terrible service closer to home and excellent service in the past with Ross doing roof motors on 2 zeds for me I decided to take my current z4 to Ross for an inspection 2 service, sort out an oil leak from the oil filter housing and to change a belt. It was well worth the 4 hour round trip.
I dropped the car off at 8am-ish and Ross drove me to Hook station so I could do some crimbo shopping in Basingstoke (next stop on the train)
What’s most impressed me was the updates and pictures throughout the morning. With some garages I’m always concerned that are they actually changing things and doing a thorough job. The pics Ross sends reassured me of this. He goes the extra mile and treats the car like it was his own.
Anyway, service done, oil leak fixed, belt changed and a few other little things sorted that the oil leak caused and the car is running perfect. It was a bit sluggish in certain revs and seemed to run out of steam higher up in the Rev range. This is no longer the case. The amount of cleaning Ross did, which he didn’t really have to do, was much appreciated too!
Oh, and the cost. All the work was cheaper than BMW would charge for just the service.

Oil filter housing on the left, and the oil cooler on the right. The M54 doesn't have an oil cooler I think, but it can also suffer from a leaky oil filter housing gasket.bearded_ed wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 10:26 pm That sounds like a great service!

Sorry for the random question on this thread, but do you know how bowser123 cleaned the oil residue on your engine (especially around the pulleys)? I DIY'd this job and spent absolutely ages cleaning the oil with rags and it doesn't look nearly as clean as his job.
Props to him, seems like a great guy. My E85 had a roof motor relocated/replaced by him and although I wasn't the one who took it to him, it clearly was an excellent job.

I didn’t see what he used to clean the engine, but did notice a big can of brake cleaner so would assume he used this. He done a very good job of it!lucasxdiniz wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 4:36 am Sorry for the random question on this thread, but do you know how bowser123 cleaned the oil residue on your engine (especially around the pulleys)?
