BMW Z4 M Brake Cooling Kit

Post by Westersund » Tue Oct 08, 2019 8:40 am

This kit replaces the non functional OEM brake cooling ducts and it uses the same mounting points. Horn relocation/rotation is needed to fit this kit and some cutting in the inner part of the wheel arches for the hose routing. The front backing plates replaces the OEM ones and in the rear you have to modify the OEM backing plates.
The kit includes brake cooling ducts for the front bumper, backing plates, funnels for the backing plates and brackets. All water cut metal pieces are NOT painted! Use rust protective paint for all the brackets and heat resistant paint for the backing plates. 3" fittings up front and 2" in the rear, hose and hardware are NOT included in this kit. Minor modifications to the brackets might be needed.

TomK made me aware that there's an OE block off cover for the wheel arches (From the 3.0 Z4) you can buy for cheap. The OE one in plastic cost around 5-6£ each side.

Part number 5 in this URL:

http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E86/Europe/Z4_3.0si-N52/L-N/jan2006/browse/vehicle_trim/wheel_arch_trim_front/

Part numbers are:

51717056403
51717056404

Parts will be printed once payment is made, preferably via PayPal. The price in SEK is what I'm asking for when all fee's are paid (if you want buyers protection please add 5.5% to the total).

The prices are, with the exchange rate of 05/04/2022, the following:

-A complete front kit with race backing plates is 3.700 SEK (~TBD£)
or if you want to buy separately
- Front bumper ducts and brackets is 2.200 SEK (~TBD£)
- Race backing plate and funnels is 1.500 SEK (~TBD£)
- Standard backing plates and funnels is 1.200 SEK (~TBD£)

- A complete rear kit is 2.900 SEK (~TBD£)
or if you want to buy separately
- Rear intakes and brackets is 1.800 SEK (~TBD£)
- Rear backing plates/funnels is 1.100 SEK (~TBD£)

- As an option a mesh insert can be bought for the front bumper ducts to prevent stones and such to get into the hose, this option is an additional 150 SEK (~12£) per pair
- Hose holders for the shocks is 150 SEK (~TBD£) per pair

If you've bought a complete front brake cooling kit from me before or buy both a complete for the front and rear I will give you a discount of 1000 SEK (~TBD£).

The shipping cost (max 2 kg) to the UK is 220 SEK (~TBD£).

Since I had to change supplier for the metal parts I went from laser cutting to water cutting thus the metal parts will have minor surface rust/stains on them. A small issue since all metal parts have to be sanded before paint anyway.

I have 2 kits ready to be shipped right away. 15 kits sold already without any complaints so there's no doubt this kit works and fits nicely.

I have backing plates fitting BMW Z4 now as well (1 hole needs a slight modification), I can make something for the front bumper if anyone is interested.

I think there was something in the news that might impact the track season this year, can't exactly remember the details.... :?

Don’t think it’ll be too bad. Can imagine it’ll be one of the activities that’ll carry on before too long due to the minimal social contact. Hopefully anyway!

Amateurs tracking their cars will be pretty high on the risk list, so it'll surely be one of the last things to get approved.

Not so sure about that, I doubt there will be guidance on what specific events can and can't run when the lock down is relaxed. It'll be more generic such as large open air gatherings etc and down to the TDO's to decide whether they can safely run, which I'm sure they'll push for as they will want the revenue as will tracks. There's rarely any major incidents, certainly less than on the roads on a daily basis so can't see that being an issue.

They seemed to be sensible with how they were run just before the lock down with briefings etc. so hopefully that'll carry on and they'll be back in business but we'll see of course.

Hi,

Any chance you make this kit for E85 to replace the front fog lights?

Cheers
