A lot of forums include a 'like' button to show appreciation of a user's post (a la Facebook!).

How about it?

I've often thought this would be a good feature.

An update of the 'smilies' wouldn't go amiss too. I mean, when was the last time Oldman was used?! :oldman:

Yes fair enough, but that involves creating a new post. OK no biggie, but a ‘like’ achieves the same thing in one keystroke.

In case you haven't noticed. Some of us like to create new post. Even when they are off topic, irrelevant, drivel. I know, but can be fun and passes the hours waiting for the rain to stop.

nah, don't start turning the forum into that Faceplant thing. Next it'll be a competition to see who can get the most 'friends'...

Besides, 'Like' buttons don't artificially inflate your post count like a simple  does.
Where's the fun in that? :P
