I’m sure she’d cope until her own arrives
Damn straight

I’d played with GTS but £74K with my options for a car is more than I would care to spend and is it worth £10k more than an S for six cylinders? As a daily drive I’m not so sure

The GTS on the configurator with our spec came out just over £82k then OTR charges on top :o

The thing that really killed it for me was that I asked with 10-12k a year what hit could I expect to take after 2 yrs, £30k for the GTS and at least £35k on a Spyder. That’s almost the cost of an M40i and once you add in Porsche’s 10%+ interest rates it’s pretty close to covering the whole cost of the M40i.

I didn’t look at the 4 cylinder one as I would want the 6

When I was buying my 718, salesman showed me a new Cayman GTS a customer had bought to use for six months whilst waiting on another Porsche they had ordered which would be sold back to Porsche when the one on order arrived.
Not a great way to attract new customers, to buy multiple ones you need to be able to buy your first one
It's a strategy that works very well for them Andy, can't see them changing it. Even long term repeat customers can't get on the order book for some models.

Sars no it’s not worth it for a daily, not in anyone’s book. Once you have your M40i you’ll forget all about a GTS. It’s just imho obvs but unless you’re doing early Sunday mornings and really enjoy touring in one along with very very enthusiastic driving in a light car then the Zed is easily capable of matching one for more everyday stuff.

Ahhh, but where not flashy f**kers like you who needs to have keys and sunglasses etc in matching colours to the car :poke:

But as I’ve said I do agree, the G29 is a much better all rounder, especially if going to be a daily and the figures definitely don’t stand up. Even doing 10k a year in the G29 after 2 yrs you’ll still only lose half of what the options in the GTS cost :headbang:

I am tempted with the Boxster S as it is more reasonably priced, but I do believe that the M40i is the better daily driver, it just lacks that extra bit of kudos as a drivers car, but more than enough for me. The technology in the zed is also much superior and the inside of the Boxster is getting dated now. I’d like to eventually own a Porsche but when you get to £89k that’s 911 territory. Anyway here’s my attempt at a very reasonable £64k

You’d be better with the Boxster T Sars…plenty of grunt and very well specced, you could get more bang for your buck that way as a lot of kit is standard on one and you really wouldn’t notice the extra 50hp unless you rag it to its enth degree. The S really is the low point because of it. £56k will get you a standard T with the wingbacks seats, PTV, dynamic engine mounts, PASM, sports chrono, pop in a couple of extras and have a better car for less coin.

Well if I thought the wait for my zed is long, I sent that to my local Porsche dealer, had a call a few hours later and told that it would be this time next year for it :headbang:

When I was speccing a 718 3 years ago I was looking at around 4 months minimum. Got lucky that they brought two in they had specced and ordered themselves, one in the colour I wanted. It was 4 a good bit over my budget, but a deal was done on budget.

They bought it back off me and sold it again at the same price they sold it to me for.

Yes they are rather expensive, beyond what I’d wish to pay :D They’ve offered me a standard Boxster with £16k worth of extras making it the same price as the S that I’d configured, but I’d very much rather keep with the zed

I spoke to the dealer and it seems that HK is very much still available on the m40i.
My cars order next stage is production as it’s moved up the stages, but still estimated delivery October which would make sense that the factory is shut all of august.

Hence why the used market is so buoyant, who wants to wait a year for a car, bad enough it’s four months for the zed. Anyway I’ve given myself a good talking too and realise the M40i is a much better purchase. The other thing is the finance i2.9% for the BMW and not 10.9% through Porsche.

Looks are subjective, though I do like both, I think on the outside the Boxster is a little more elegant and the M40i is more aggressive, on the inside there’s no comparison and the zed wins hands down.

Hopefully the HK will be available once our cars are built, looks like we will have similar deliveries dates
