My addiction knows no bounds.
its official.
I must own old Beemers.
Rewind the clock back 4 months. Sold the Z3 MCoupe breadvan. Gutted but essential as I'd owned it for 4 years and it's value had tripled from what I'd bought it for in 2014. I immediately go out and buy a replacement plaything in the form of a 2.8 Z3 roadster - clean, classic, great looks and less value-anxiety.
Drive it, I thought. Spec it up, I thought...
£1500 spend later on wheels, tyres, tiny dents etc and she's looking almost mint. I have a stack full of upgrades ready to fit - springs, shocks, bushes, intake etc and I'm ready to roll into the autumn. But thats when the addiction happens. Autotrader/Pistonheads/Car&Classic fires up. I try to justify things in my head and man maths takes over.
I even looked at getting back into Z4 ownership and looked at a rather gorgeous Z4MC that was being advertised here - which I as very close to putting an offer in on - but figured out that if I was going to change it would need to be to experience something completely different.
That's when the 325 came onto the scene. Four seats meant family trips out, 1987 meant classic looks and E30 meant great mechanical base. The one I found is immaculate, 2 owners, Zinnobar Red over Pearl beige interior and just 71k miles (I also somehow managed to arrange long term storage for the Z3 since I really didn't want to sell or px. Thats a car for the future )
So anyway, I'm picking her up on Monday and plan a longer than necessary route home to acquaint myself with her.
Maybe I'll get her out on a meet sometime too and mix it up with some old Zed friends!
