Fuel cap

It finally happened, the fuel cap cord broke.
But by chance a piece of telephone cable outer insulator was just the right diameter for the rubber to be glued in to.

I've never fully understood why it's there in the first place!
There is a locator for the central stud of the cap in the top of the flap where you can place the cap while you are re-fuelling, so why do you need a "cord" to retain it?

IMHO ;)

Hence why you have the locator in the top of the flap, otherwise you have the cap potentially banging into the same spot on your Z's body every time you "let it go"
Yes indeed, people are idiots!!

The cord stops you dropping it on the floor and we just know it would roll under the car!

My fixing method :-
