2006 Z4 Sport 2.5si Project (SOLD)

Hi guys, I have joined the forum a few weeks ago while looking for a Z4, and managed to find an impulse match :) She is a 2.5si Sport model in Monaco blue with Oregon beige leather. I was keen to have as little black as possible, so I'm very happy with the colour combination. As for going against "3.0 or nothing" advice, well - after test driving 3.0si pretty much back to back, I didn't feel that much difference with my driving style (and both are tons more powerful than my old MX-5 NB).

The good:
Bodywork, underbody and interior are in very good condition. I'm only the third owner at just over 60k miles, and the car has led an easy garaged life in the last 7 years at least. She was also kept near-stock, which is what I wanted.

The bad:
Only good service record (but getting better). I have done the Inspection 2 after buying it to bring it up to scratch.
  • Registration - 0 on 18 May 2006
  • Oil Service - 18,776 on 14 Mar 2008
  • Inspection 1 - 32,163 on 22 Apr 2010
  • Oil Service - 52,100 on 26 Sep 2013
  • Inspection 2 - 60,266 on 7 Aug 2018 at Grosvenor, Reading
  • Oil Service - 65,428 on 26 Aug 2019 by myself
The ugly:
There are a few small chips, scratches and "trolley" dents around the car, primarily on bumpers and OSF wing. Nothing unusual for 14 years old.

The plan is to keep this tread as a sort of build diary with before/after photos. No crazy mods, and trying to keep it as OEM-looking as possible, so mainly retrofitting and refreshing components really.

To-do list: (DONE)
  • Relocate roof motor
  • Refurbish driver bolster
  • Remove rear roof latch
  • Replace brushed aluminium dash
  • Replace tyres with non-RFTs
  • Replace MV2s with 108s
  • Fit Eibach springs and spacers
  • Fit ZHP gear knob
  • Retrofit srhutch's Cruise Control
  • Retrofit OEM wind deflector
  • Replace water pump
  • Fit DLV back box
  • Remove CDV
  • Refurbish headlights
  • Replace front discs and paint calipers
  • Fit driver seat storage
  • Paint rear calipers

Roof motor moved to the boot by bowser134. Great service and care taken during work - thoroughly recommended. Luckily it looks like the motor has never seen any water (and never will).

A bit late to welcome you to the forum now OP, but welcome anyway!

That's a lovely colour combination.

And I like your list of mods. The driver seat storage is really handy - I managed to get a first aid box from an E46 and fit that.

Couldn't do it if I tried :) By the way, how do I mention a user in the post? I have seen it done to me, but can't see a way how.

fair play to bowser134!

your todo list looked alot like mine lol!

i had to fix the central locking the day i got it. as it stopped working! typical, so added a few extra options like remote hood drop. i had big plans for my car, but the years flew by and i didnt get round to it.
