Re: The new Z4 is here...
The photoshop images show that bigger wheels will set it of better. But as we can all plainly see this is an SLK competitor. Quite a different car for a different market.
I like aspects of it, but as i have said before im just not old enough, or rich-wife enough to own one. It hardly says fun roadster/ocassional track car does it.
The lines on the bonnet/hood also look a bit too Chrysler Crossfire as well. Not simple enough in a lot of respects.

I still like it alot, although it's starting to tip the scales and doesn't look so nimble.

Re: The new Z4 is here...
Watching some of the videos the cabin looks a lot more polished than the current version, much more luxurious. Add in the hard top, weight and size gain, and those large engines and seems to me this is pitched as a alternitive to a Merc SL.
I like it, not enough to buy one just yet but enough to come back to it once they have been out for a year of so.

Weight was in one of the links in this thread, certainly more than the current.mikedav wrote:What does it weigh?*AL* wrote: I still like it alot, although it's starting to tip the scales and doesn't look so nimble.

sDrive30i manual 1470kg
sDrive30i auto 1500kg
sDrive35i manual 1565kg
sDrive35i DCT 1585kg
There might be a bit of difference between US methods of measurement so I'm not 100% certain on these. The EU weight of the "old" 3.0Si was 1415kg so comparably the sDrive35i DCT will be over 1600kg with tank of fuel etc.
The SLK350 is 1505 and the SLK55 is 1575kg so I suppose it is broadly comparable with its peers.

Re: The new Z4 is here...
I had really fun time reading how new Z4 isn't nice as old one I understand you, years ago I had Audi TT tunned by ABT which I really liked, but then when I saw first pictures of Mk2 I didn't want to like it, despite it looked much better... Later, I accept that my car is dated and I have sold it. It was hard for me to accept and now you are in same situation...
And I have seen people here complaining that new Z4 does not have boot space New one got 310 l big trunk, while old Z4 got 260 l trunk
Some comparisons, current Z4 was nice car, but compared to new Z4 is old and dated...:
Anyway, after new year I will put my order for new Z4 sDrive35i

180 litres with the roof in the down position though, that's the shame about it. Same as SLK.JonnyI wrote: And I have seen people here complaining that new Z4 does not have boot space New one got 310 l big trunk, while old Z4 got 260 l trunk
Sounds awesome, any decisions on spec yet, given the limited info we have got? You seen this yet?JonnyI wrote:Anyway, after new year I will put my order for new Z4 sDrive35i

Re: The new Z4 is here...
The new Z4 is nice , but not enough for me to trade in my current Z4 for a new one. IMHO a true classic ragtop roadster should have a soft top. To be quit honest, I was hoping for a smaller, more agile, better performance Z4. We will see if the rumour of a new entry level Z2 will come true.
I hope BMW will do a better job with the coupe version and the ///M version of the Z4. BMW, are you listening? Please put in the V8 from the e92 M3, and not the twin turbo engine for the ///M.
