Took the car for a spin. New diff ratio of 3.46 from 3.0i auto (old ratio 3.07).
1st gear still more than usable, 2nd easier to set off in without slipping clutch, 6th less like an overdrive but still high enough for the motorway.
Most of all it's transformed the car from 3rd to 5th. Really pleased with it. Thanks to all who did the write ups. Cheers mark

If anyone else is looking to repair their seats due to collapsed foam please PM me. I'm able to source a variety of foams as I work for a commercial furniture manufacturer.

Foam supplies are not an issue. Depending on your usage, I can PM you details of suppliers Tues when I'm back at work.

What have you done to your car today?
Car went in for it's MOT last week and passed but had an advisory on the front control arm bushes. I had thought the steering was starting to feel a bit more skittish and vague than it should be. I ordered some Meyle HD jobbies which came yesterday and fitted them today. Fairly straightforward but working on the drive slows the job down.
My Method:
1. Jack car up one side and remove wheel.
2. Remove aluminium underplate - 8 bolts and 3 screws for plastic undertray.
3. Undo 2 bolts on bush mounts and use puller to remove. (used a 10mm 1/2" socket on the end of the puller screw to keep it central)
4. Lubricate spigot and rubber and replace bush mount with new one. (I used a bit of tyre soap)
5. Put wheel back on and repeat for other side.
6. Replace aluminium undertray and refix to plastic undertray
7. Replace wheel.
Went for a test drive and the steering now feels like it used to. Will probably get the wheel alignment checked at the end of the month.

Removed washer bottle and flters and gave everything a good clean. 16 years of gunk removed. Jets of fluid on to windscreen and headlights seem a lot more powerful now.

Heck! Is that all?Beefy wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2020 12:43 am Hi new to the forum, had my Z project just over a month and since I’m on furlough I’ve been making use of my time... last week I fitted new rear springs, shocks, and top mounts, relocated and repaired the roof motor, fitted poly arb bushes, and done the oil and filters. Got new front springs and top mounts to go on this week just need shocks to arrive.
