The bolsters just need a direct 12v feed, like powering e85 electric seats.

I will get you more information when I can. Sorting the passenger bolster should be easier to work out. The drivers side may be different.
Rob I’ll get those looms back in the post tomorrow

I did use 2 pins from the drivers side…

I think the next thing Ian may be wanting is a heated steering wheel…

But thank you!

I need to work out the relationship between the old loom and connector (the new bases don’t have a loom or connector for bolsters) and linking that to the switch AND the control box

Will be easy to sort don't worry. Will hopefully get some time later to take a few pictures and point you in the right direction.

The passenger seat was working with some recabling but the drivers wasn’t

It was evident that it needed canbus to the seat which wasn’t provided by the cars loom

I used the canbus from the back of the stereo to close the loop and the drivers seat came to life!

The only thing I couldn’t figure was how to power the bolsters- as the loom was different

Thanks to all that helped and contributed. If anyone needs guidance in future please drop me a line

I am delighted with the result. Stuart did a brilliant job. I would also second his thanks to everyone else who has contributed to the outcome.
Where else can you find such good folk plus the necessary skills to complete a job like this? Imagine trying to get it sorted in a garage.
Another bonus of having this job done is that I have met other Forum members. Nigel ( and his good lady) who sold me the seats and Rob who is a seat expert. It was good to see Dave again too. He did a fair bit of work on a previous car I owned.
Really looking forward to the good weather and being able to get out in the Z again. I won’t mind now if Angela wants to drive (occasionally).👍👍👍

Poor Ian, just think how much his utility bills will be this month. And he's a poor pensioner! :P

I’m sure he does Andy. There is no harm in a bit of banter. He would be more worried if you were polite and charming😉😉😊😊😊

Bolster Loom:

Start with the old passenger seat. You should be able to cut the loom free from the old seat wire harness. All the wires are taped together but once untangled they are separately wrapped.

It'll look something like this:

Bottom left corner you'll find this plug:

It has 4 wires. Red/black, brown, green/grey, blue/black.

At the main yellow seat connector (x275) you will have a Red/black wire and a brown wire. These are the positive and ground wires.

Top right corner you will have the switch for the bolster:

There are 3 wires. Colours are: Red/black, blue/black and green/grey

Detach this loom, now with the passenger loom out that should help you work out how to free and cut out the drivers seat loom.

My electric drivers seat is in my car but from memory the bolster loom is not integrated in the main electrical box:

You should be able cut free the drivers similarly to the passenger side.

If that fails I have already unwrapped the passenger loom and have a drawing of the loom and pictures so you can make one up.

Just looked at this Rob. You don’t let the grass grow under your feet. In truth, it doesn’t mean a lot to me but I’m sure it will to Stuart. Thank you for moving so quickly.

Thinking about the heated wheel. I wouldn’t say no to one but since our cars are garaged I don’t miss not having one. It’s different if you’re getting into a freezing cold car that has spent the night outside. Then I can appreciate why you would want one.🤔
