Hi folks. New boy on here.
I’ve a 2007 E85 2.5si SE running the original 16” rims & runflats.
The runflats need to go to smooth the ride, so it could be the time to change up to 17”.
Any thoughts, recommendations, or things to avoid?

I'd suggest styling 105. Why? Because they are the only 17" OE staggered E85/E86 option and 255 tyre on the rear looks really good. It needs it. Also easy to clean.
8x17 225/45
8,5x17 255/40
Can't go wrong with Michelin PS4 or PS4S
Consider Eibachs in the future + spacers 20 mm rear plus 5 mm front.

The rears will be 5cm more “outboard” than standard, i.e. about 3cm beyond the bodywork. Ok if you want the Carlos Fandango look 🤔

Front Axle:

Standard: 18x8J ET47
New: 18x8.5J ET20

Tyre: 225x40xR18

The 225mm tyre is the minimum width you can use on an 8.5J wide wheel.

In terms of size, the wheel will poke out 33.4mm more than before. This is far too much and will stick out of the arches and almost definitely rub when turning the wheel.

Rear Axle:

Standard: 18x8.5J ET50
New: 18x10J ET20

Tyre: 255x35xR18

The 255mm tyre is the minimum width you can use on an 10J wide wheel.

In terms of size, the wheel will poke out 49.1mm more than before. This is far too much and will stick out of the arches.

Now to be helpful :D

I am also looking for some ARC-8s soon (switching from MV2) and the best sizes in my opinion are as follows:

Front Axle:
18x8.5J ET42

Rear Axle:
18x9J ET45

These sizes give a front and rear poke of 11.4mm more than before. This is good for me as I am running 12mm spacers front and rear so it will match those. Plus with this setup you have the option of fitting more spacer. Its quite difficult to fit negative spacers :P

None. ET is too aggressive. If you want CSL replicas (styling 127/163 plus 359) consider:
avus racing
vmr vb3 (v703)
riva dtm
atomic csl
Avant Garde M359
sportline 8s
apex arc-8
wsp italy
atomic csl
VEEMANN VC359
CB MODEL:BM10

Cheers mate so looking like Veemann or Riva will be the right price bracket and look. do you have any feedback on either of the reference fitment and quality. I do like the concaved look but still needs to be usable as will be tracked from time to time. I am running BC Coilovers and will run 18” wheels

Cheers

G'day mate,

You will most likely need to visit manufacturer homepage and find desired wheel and then check if they fit.
Fronts:
8J ET 35-50
8,5 ET 40-45
Rears:
8,5 ET 30-50
9 ET 35-45
OFC this measurements are approx and Michelin 225 can be Goodyear 235 :|
Fronts in Z4 are pain in the arse, because of wheel arch shape behind side marker.

Hi All,

Following on from this I have narrowed the wheels I’d like down to the below:

Riva DTM 18” which are
Front 8” ET 34
Rear 8.5” ET 37
£570

Or

Veemann VC359 18”
Front 8.5” ET35
Rear 9.5” ET45
£799

I want a nice looking good quality wheel. I am lowered although not crazy on BC adjustables and and would like to be able to use car for some track use so looking for best looking without rubbing.

Any advice for which of the above would be best please?

Many thanks

Just acquired my first e86 with 108 style 18” wheels with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A run flats. They still have around 7-8mm tread on all the tyres but I have never been a fan of run flats and want a better ride quality. I was thinking of changing them once they are due for replacement but based on my light use that could be a while.

Is there a recommended non run flat tyre for these 108 style wheels. I see many recommend the Michelin PS4, but do other tyres match this wheel better.

Any thoughts?
