Z3 project...no going back now!

I struggle, Ian, as people's lack of care and organisation pisses me off. I get it every day with work, I don't need it with a 'hobby' aswell.

Then to really cap the day off, when I was telling 'the Duchess' about the issues, I inadvertently mentioned the amounts. She hit the roof! Presumably I forgot to mention the figures involved before.
So I also have a very grumpy wife aswell.

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Now I really feel for you. I refer you to the wooden sign hanging in my kitchen: ‘ Happy wife, happy life’. Mind you Heather always seems to be a gentle soul. So there shouldn’t be any serious physical damage. I just hope you are going to be well enough to finish the job.🥲🥲🥲

Good job you're getting the car back, to be honest they could have been really awkward about it, stuck to their guns and refused to release the car pending payment on what they had quoted. It would have been intesesting if it gone to the small claims court who would have been favoured.

In hindsight I know but just ensure you always get a written quote on anything. I had some roofing work done last year and I was very casual about the quote etc, accepted a verbal quote when they came round the house which did then go up slightly as they were going along in doing the job. It then started to really play on my mind whislt the work was being done and I stated kicking myself that I didn't insist on a written quote from the off. Luckily the extra money over their original quote was only around 150 quid. The roofing company I used played on their work was guaranteed for 10 years but then wouldn't give me any sort of receipt for the work done, ask them 3 times and nothing. So if I wanted to test their guarantee and without a receipt they can simply turn round and say what work!

Too many shisters out there

Tim.

Many of these so called guarantees are virtually worthless. Even when written down. We had our roof stripped and recovered and retiled. The small company that did the job were excellent and I was very happy with their work. My next door neighbour was so impressed he had his done too. He received the same guarantee as we did. Fortunately we have not had any problems. My neighbour has not been so lucky. Six months after his roof was completed he had major issues. When he tried to contact the company for repairs he discovered that it had been wound up and the owner had retired. The guarantee proved to be not worth the paper it was written on.

There are not many honest, trustworthy businesses around any more it seems.
At least they told you when you dropped them off, not when you picked them up!

If I was more successful, I would maybe have a real one. I dunno, maybe a surgeon? They seem to do OK. :D

I cannot understand why they didn’t give you a proper quote, signed by you to say you agreed to the price and terms, with you and them having a copy. I run a small business and this is what I do, the price is the price for 30 days until signed and deposit paid. If not signed by then I re quote. The work can take up to 6 months for me to complete but the quote never changes. Everything straight and honest. Beggars believe how they can work like this.
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

I should have been a neurosurgeon - there’s a guy who operates at the same hospital that I do who has a McLaren and an F430 for when the sun is shining!
