All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

After 14 years I decided to put my R1 up for sale.
Will be sad to see it go but not even covered 1000 miles on it over the last 4 years.

Sad times.. did the same with my hayabusa 18 months ago after 19 years The state of the roads nowadays its no surprise, i took a ride out today and came back ready to give up biking completely as its just losing its appeal when you spend the whole ride trying to avoid pot holes every 10 yards
if its got tits or tyres..its trouble

Yip. Pretty much the same. Had bikes for the last 32 years, never been without one but the state of the roads, the amount of traffic and the fear of being sent to jail is spoiling it. The other thing is bikes are going the same way as cars at the moment with prices high so now is the time to sell. My insurance renewal came through and it was only £87!mr.tourette wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 11:03 pmSad times.. did the same with my hayabusa 18 months ago after 19 years The state of the roads nowadays its no surprise, i took a ride out today and came back ready to give up biking completely as its just losing its appeal when you spend the whole ride trying to avoid pot holes every 10 yards

Read lots of motorbike reviews over the last year or so and it appears that the sale of new superbikes are in decline and adventure, naked and touring bike sales are increasing. I really fancied the latest R1 but trying to have fun on a 200bhp bike on our roads is going to result in either a loss of licence or serious injury. I’ve opted for a Ducati Hypermotard which at 114bhp will be the least powerful bike I’ll have owned since my 1991 GSXR750m.

No doubt about the shocking state of the roads in the UK and the sheer number of vehicles on the roads nowadays. Every trip out on the bike is one of self preservation trying to anticipate what another road user will do next.
That said motorcycles offer a level of freedom that in my opinion no car can match. And in terms of real world enjoyment where top speed is irrelevant the acceleration of a motorcycle is something else. Throw in a set of twisties too,,,,
On the most practical level I had to go to Nottingham last week and took the bike. Hit a queue for roadworks that turned out to be over a mile long and I don't think I was held up by more than a couple of minutes. And have you ever left the Formula 1 at Silverstone in a car? Rain or shine I always go by bike

Biking abroad is where it’s at now for me, generally better road conditions and no fear of points following you back, although fines do, however Brexit may have put a stop to that? So many good regions to explore, within easy reach.
In recent years I’ve been as far east as Hungary, south east as Croatia and SW as mid Spain and lots in between. Enjoyed it all and no hassle or stress anywhere.
Now just need COVID to get sorted so that we get some more green travel.

My lockdown project, it left the original Breganze Laverda factory almost exactly 50 years ago. It's a very early 750sf 0 model (probably about 15 on the road in the UK) and was the closely related road going version of the all conquering SFC racer. The huge racing drum, exotic magnesium components , over-engineering and price led to Laverda's tag as the Lamborghini of road bikes. It pulls like a train and sounds very well on the original, virtually unbaffled pipes. It's had one previous owner in France before being imported and restored by the secretary of the owners club from whom I bought it. I stripped and detailed it, but these always require something and I've had to source parts from Italy, Germany and even Canada! So I have the Biffer 1000 to rely on
2003 2.5 SE, low miles, Sterling Grey, 108's & Eagles, no stubby here! Unmolested.
