Thats know as clocking surely - how the hell can that be legal, the car could have done 200k before the conversion, for £77k I would want to know all about the original car.

Reading the details, it does actualy state that:

Odometer reset during conversion – 2,150 miles covered since

And it refers to the service history of before, but never mentions the key value of how much the engine has done.

Yes..new gauges, new mileage. I am getting my new gauges programmed to the mileage on the car now, so will show 54k from day one. Much better way to do it IMO.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

It does seem strange that most people use high mileage, half knackered old cars to convert. It is not a cheap conversion and ultimately it will still be the half knackered car underneath.
That is why I wanted a low mileage good car to start with.

BTW the last car to sell last month went for £70k. One recently sold in the US (built from a body the same as mine) for $267,000! It has been fitted with a 7 litre LS7 V8, though!

You are doing the right thing though by documenting the donor car and the various stages of dismantling, it is obvious it is a clean example from that rather than a knackered one.

Yes, that makes much more sense.

And starting with a clean low mileage Z3 has to be the best approach.

What’s your timescale for completion? Have you mapped out what you’re doing when?

I don't have one, TBH.
I am going to see the chap I am buying the body and a lot of the parts from next Sunday. Just want to go through some stuff and see exactly what I am getting for my (not inconsiderable) money.
I am now almost at a stage where I need the body panels to start moving forward.

I need to order lots of expensive parts aswell, but am putting that off until I have something to actually see what they will fit to.

Yes it will be a very interesting story, like a wheeler dealers special.
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

Well he sells more cars than Mike Brewer but one difference, he always loses money.

I keep looking at what is left of the car and thinking "what am I doing. Am I up to this?" :(
I took a couple of bits of trim off the other day and forgot to label them. I now have absolutely no idea where they came from/ go back! :headbang:
