Easter weekend away

Sun's blazing and we'll manage to get away at lunchtime Friday.
So the plan is:
Pick the wife up from her office at 1 and head from Perth to Oban for the night....not the greatest drive but pleasant if the traffic's light and we'll get there with time to relax at hotel and probably have a wander around town/get food and a drink.
Sat it'll be up and away sharpish as I want to go a fair bit up the coast on the scenic roads if possible. So Oban up to Invergarry then head towards Skye and turn north on the road to Lochcarron. If it's clear we'll head up to top of Bealach for the view then double back and head to Shieldaig. From there it's coastal roads all the way to our Sat night stop at Aultbea hotel, where we're meeting old biking/school friends for an evening's eating & drinking.
Desperately hoping the weathers good....love a drive on the west coast and top down.......even better.

Very envious, hope the weather is better in Scotland than it is forecast in England.

Looks like today will be the only nice day of the Easter weekend :(

Don't forget photos of your road trip!

Very jealous, your planned drive sounds great - take some pics if you get the chance. As TR4man says we have sun for today and the rest of the B/H weekend looks like a washout :(

Thanks guys, not exactly tropical here but it'll sneak over 10°C by lunchtime, not windy and the main thing it's not raining.Looking patchy for Sat,our main day,but we'll go with the flow and avoid the clouds if possible.Sunday doesn't matter too much as it'll be heading home.......I'm off Monday so maybe get another run someplace myself.
Pictures shouldn't be a problem with the easy attachment method that's in place now although they'll be from the phone so maybe not the best!!
Not TOO long until your trip to Scotland Marlon so I'll try and get some pics between Oban & Fort bill to whet the appetite.

Sounds like a great weekend. Enjoy the drive.

I am working all weekend again :headbang:

Weather is really good at the moment but cold and as others have said getting cloudier on the West coast as the weekend progresses which might help keep the traffic numbers down looking on the bright side. :)

Have a good one Highlander.....this last week or so has been really good weather here,SUNY and dry most of the time, ideal conditions at times for giving my car an overdue full on wash and polish detail and interior clean.....but I am laid up recovering from a back op :headbang:

Hope weather stays decent for u,some nice roads there :driving:

We had to cancel it Highlander - absolutely gutted about it cos we were so looking forward to it :(

Not good news Marlon....sorry to remind you.
We'll make the most of our time away from the normal routine and get a few pics as well.
Enjoy the weekend, whatever you're all up to

No real photo ops during the day but quickly grabbed this on way back to hotel.....didn't realise they'd electrified McCaig's Tower......looks like a giant flying saucer from down by the pier.
Apologies for the poor quality & composition..... was windy & raining.
Far more picturesque route tomorrow....... please be dry

Have a great road trip Highlander. Fingers crossed for some better weather up your way than we have in Cornwall today. :driving:

The Sat drive was what I was really looking forward to and it rained all day...not torrential but roof up none the less.
Which was a disappointment but we still kept to plan A and followed the coast, didn't go up Bealach as it was shrouded in mist so totally pointless from a viewing/photography perspective though.
For any perspective NC500 drivers I can report that the section we drove on and indeed most of the west coast roads were in good condition for our cars with biggish rims/low profile tyres. And all of the fuel stops we used to frequent on the bikes were still trading and some are now 24hr automated so shouldn't be too many issues there either...........saves the attendant getting embarrassed by the price per litre  .......didn't look for the availability of super UL but that's doubtful in rural communities...........carry octane booster if required.
We stayed in Oban Bay Hotel on Friday which was OK....part of Paddy Crerar's chain, breakfast was good and had a sauna/steam room........room a bit small for staying more than 1 night and wife disembowling the case of clothes/cosmetics/etc that are necessary on a weekend away
Sat night we were meeting friends and they'd booked rooms in Aultbea Hotel(on NC500 route)..........spotlessly clean room but very dark( No 5) and no sea view :( .....still over £100 a night B&B.Had a great selection of Scottish gins at the bar and the restaurant food was excellant but pricy and portions just getting on for small shall we say..........made me have 3 courses so obviously better for hotelier  ..........and not a lot for Mrs Highlander( vegetarian,no eggs,no fish either)
Only stopped for these few pics as the weather wasn't the best.....light was poor but hey ho it's spring in Scotland.....at least it wasn't snowing.

Even in the rain your white E89 looks great against the majestic Scottish landscape, and those roads look so inviting :driving:
Keep posting Highlander

That's definitely all now

Last picture is the naval pier, think it's still in use for NATO exercises, etc
but this was the last staging post for the Atlantic convoys from USA to Russia.

Cheers for the Photo's Highlander.

If spring time in Scotland = Beautiful, breath taking scenery + Shifting dramatic weather + Shimmering majestic Lochs. and a pin sharp, White Zed, as the perfect contrast to the natural wonders. Then I'm on my way North soon. :D :driving:
