S55 engine ..nice…not sure about the colour..
It’s only the colour she’s interested in, if it’s wrapping an S55 so be it
Should do the Tarbert to Lochgilphead section faster than the average Golf…
Maybe the blue will grow on me…better than that ghastly green on the G29 manual..
How much?

Gulf colours, lovely, pity it’s got a roof
Enjoy bud
Thanks Andy, yep the only one in the uk in this colour I believe.
I’m spoilt, I’ve got the Alpina for roof down action.
OH occasionally, including yesterday

tells me she would like this for the winter. Absolutely nothing to do with what it is, she just likes the colour
Glad the Alpina is staying
Saw one of these on the road the other day, still a bit of an acquired taste but much better in real life…. Don’t photograph well at all

Looks great, it really suits the car and it’s much more interesting than the typical colour choices.
That said, I quite liked the stripes too. For a car that stands out and isn’t just a means of transport, the stripes were fitting (unlike the previous C63 saloon with it’s ridiculous optional yellow or red stripes on matt grey).
And it was in good company:

Thanks for positive comments chaps,
Might sound daft, but I think you can see the shape of the car better without the stripes, especially the sides.
I’m not a big fan of stripes on a road car, and I really didn’t like the way they extended behind the back edge of each door and across the intake… just doesn’t flow with the body shape there.
Anyway, no regrets, much happier with the de-striped look looks much more coherent to my eyes

Looking at the two racecar examples the skinny orange stripes just looked like a half arsed cheap attempt of a copy. Better without them.

That's fair enough - I'm not sure I'd want stripes on a road car either, unless it was the side stripes that were standard on old Ford Escort Mexico/RS models.
But I agree with Nictrix too, the wider stripes definitely look better if stripes are your thing!

Nice looking car Martin, I like the stripes, think it makes the car standout but would still take it without them

I see what you mean, I hadn’t spotted that the stripes extended over the intake - usually they stop at the trailing edge of the door. That looks very odd!

Yes, it was weird. Stranger still is that these were applied at the factory like that
I did remove that section first and the car did look a lot better for it, but I still prefer the completely clean look.
Stripes seen to be very divisive in the Porsche world (and more generally), some love them some hate them… not a lot of middle ground it seems.

Cheers Sean,
I know what you mean, but I think the black alloys, gloss black intake vents, gloss black rear valance, black exhaust tips, factory tinted dark rear lights and the black panel underneath the rear spoiler between the rear lights gel much better with the blue now, without the distraction of the orange.
Be boring if we all liked the same stuff

I like the baby blue colour - think it's the best colour on a 718, the stripes are ok for me but also understand why you removed them with all the gloss black accents.
Anyway still a cracking car which ever way you look at it
