How To- Retrofit Electric/Heated seats

Post by hisXLNC » Wed Feb 26, 2025 1:46 pm

I have ordered a replacement seat for my car, as the old one was terrible, and the new one has the heating element installed. How can I tell if the car has the wiring for the heated seats preinstalled so that I can complete the retrofit in the future?

Whatage is the car? It will only have the loom in place before October 2004

Thst should answer your question then.

That is if we assume your seats are the originals. If by some remote chance someone swapped out heated seats then you're in luck..................... but realistically not much chance of that.

Resurrecting an old thread here, can I take the occupancy sensor off a basic manual 2004 pre facelift seat and fit it to an electric M Sport post face lift seat in order to make the seat compatible with my 2004 car? It appears that all the wiring is already all there on my car.

You can use the occupancy mat but you need to make cuts in the seat base foam to make it fit.

Be easier to fit an occupancy sensor bypass and have the passenger seat belt chime warning coded out.

If you go the occupancy bypass route then I usually buy mine from here:

https://mat-emulators.co.uk/products/fo ... eat-sensor

Not had one fail on me yet from there but ebay I have.

You'll need the black box, about the size of a pack of cards, from under your old seat.

Just bought a set of heated electric leather seats for my Zed , :headbang: reading this thread it looks like the wiring will not be in place as mine was manufactured in October 2004 but is a early 2005 registered, hopefully I might be lucky to find it there ?, is it only a short piece of loom or would it be like open heart surgery to fit it ? what do you all think ? Thanks :)
