Two things..

If you use a tool like CtM then you can see who/how much things change by altering your mileage, excesses, named drivers and whether you use it for business..

You can see £100+ changes by twiddling with what appear minor innocuous changes
I was quite surprised to find my insurance reduced by about £30 last year when I told them it was on a drive, not in a garage. Apparently, the fact that garages could fall in, burn down etc, make drives statistically safer.
Paying the extra for the garage though.... must save me more than the difference in reduced cleaning products
I have always wondered about things like this.
Say you insure your car as parked on your drive as thats where it normally is. What if you park it in your garage for a weekend and the garage falls down or the car got damaged while in it, would you not be covered?
Or if you couldnt park your car in the garage one night and it had a window smashed, would you not be covered?
Surely you cant phone your insurance every time you decide to park your car in a different place to make sure you are covered.
Civil dispute area...could they prove..on the balance of probabilities an intent to deceive...highly unlikely...more likely scenario is you say you parked it on the drive, then it was hit whilst parked on the road outside your house...faced with a £30k claim they may try their luck..

No, the question is normally "where is the car usually kept?". So long as you answer that right it shouldn't matter if you occasionally park it somewhere else - it's not like they ask "where is it ALWAYS kept?"

I don't think the reduction for keeping it on the drive is so much about the building collapsing, but back in the 80s and 90s when I was handling motor claims we got quite a few claims for damage to cars when they were being driven into or out of the garage. Best of all was an elderly couple who both managed to drive their automatic Metro through the back wall of their garage! :o
