235 45 fronts or 225 45?

Post by Rye » Tue Jul 09, 2013 11:26 am

I've got Michelin PSS fitted on the rear and are 265 40 18 on the standard Z4M wheels. just wanting to know if anyone else has gone for 235 45 fronts or stuck with 225 45 stock sizes on this setup. and have you had any rubbing issues? pics would probably help me make up my mind as what to order. As i dont want the tyres to look like balloons on the fronts with the profile being too much if you get my drift. cheers guys

235/45/18 on the front should fit fine. I run 245/45/18 (8J) and 275/35/18 (9J) with no rubbing whatsoever. The wheel offset might make a small difference, but it would need to be extreme to cause an issue. Also....despite what some people fear, the small difference in diameter has minimal effect on the speedo readings, indeed when measured with a quality GPS my speedo still marginally undereads. I like the look of the slightly wider tyre, and it offers a bit more rim protection. some on the other hand prefer the tighter look. In the end it's personal choice, but they will fit no problem. :)
