Comfort Light Module

Post by Bad_Pritt » Fri Aug 03, 2012 7:28 am

Just ordered a comfort light module from Xcar-style: http://www.dachmodule.de/product_info.p ... modul.html

Features of the module:
Comfort Indicator: 3 times indicating on small tap of the indicator switch
Cornering: fog light lights up on cornering at speeds up to 40 km/h
Daytime running lights: You can choose to use your side lights, small headlights or fog lights as DRL's => I will choose the AE's
U.S. indicators: not sure what this does as I have a EU model, suppose you can choose to turn them on or off
Coming Home: lights (that you choose) will stay on upon closing the car, for 15 to 75 secs => I will choose the AE's + tail lights
Location lighting: lights (that you choose) will come on upon opening the car, for 15 to 75 secs => I will choose the AE's + tail lights
Illumination shutter: choose to have your indicators coming on or not when opening/closing the car
Remote control window: have the windows go down/up on double-click with the remote
Notwarnblinken: indicators go on for 7 secs when making a sudden stop at speeds aboce 60 km/h
Chirpansteuerung: have the horn go of when opening/closing the car (like american cars or mercedes does)
Main switch: to turn all features on or off

Programming is done through the window wipe handle and indicator handles for selection, instructions are said to be very clear and installations is just as easy as the GapTech module: 4 wires to connect...

Here's a short movie on the specs:

I'll post some pics when installing it :-)

Sounds good... Always wanted my lights to come on upon unlocking my car.

Look forward to seeing the results.

sounds good apart from the fog lights coming on and off all the time. everyone will think you are flashing them as you drive through rushhour at 20mph

I will be buying this, just for the AE to turn on when unlocking the car and locking the car to remain on. Wonder how this intereferes with auto headlights though, if the AE is always on, I assume you would still leave the light switch in the auto position and it would function as normal.

Group buy anyone?

"Fairylights" :D I hate those things, looks like someone glued cheap rope lights to their car.

AEs have become as iconic as kidney grilles and the Hofmeister kink (sadly missing on E85s). Just because they've been around a while doesn't mean they should be abandoned for something new and different. At least the latest version with the top clipped sort of freshens the look without abandoning it.

Photoshop challenge: A fresh improved DRL look for BMWs that will not be mistaken for an Audi. (Not sure it's possible, but open to ideas)

Got a little OT here, to return: I wonder how this module works. Does it run in parallel with the light switch centre, or does it interface with it directly via K-Bus? We'll get a clue based on how and where it is installed.

In that sense, the headlight is really really outdated and we should all be using night vision and infra red bulbs... :poke:
