Re: refurbish or replace?
I've been in the same situation: liked the 108 design but couldn't be bothered with the corrosion issues. I refurbed mine myself (a proper job involving splitting them, full polish on the rim, relacquering, etc) before selling them on while they were perfect as I always had a soft spot for ellipsoids
I see a lot of 108's have been refurbed with the outer/rim part of the wheel powdercoated instead of polished. To me this misses the whole point of the wheel - IMO they just don't look right without the polished lip.
So basically I'd say replace.

Can they not have chrome paint on the rim? Or does that look daft?

Lepsons in Swindon (or Kent) will do a bare metal rework for about £80 per wheel. If they have spares in stock they'll give you the choice to swap out with their's. They do an Alpina Register discount, so I expect an advanced call would secure a forum discount (10%)
I can thoroughly recommend them, the wheels on my Alpina are like new

You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

And a sensible one. I think he may reduce the price if you're trading in your old set. And he does a good job. Ive asked him about getting mine done later this yearronk wrote:Now there's a thought!bluestreak56 wrote:Trade in with Leon for a set of his powdercoated ones?

Re: refurbish or replace?
I have seen on Some wheel refurb sites that they will exchange your wheels for a set of refurbed wheels like for like, not sure of the price but might be worth a look.
