Comfortable Runflats?

Post by richard100 » Fri Jul 30, 2010 9:48 am

I've had Falkens for a year and a half now, and the comfort has been superb (although they have worn quicker than expected). I'm thinking of moving back to runflats in case I need to be prepared for trade in at the dealers next time. Any recommendations on RFT's that are both comfortable and relatively cheap?

Think Gannet has some Michelin that he likes ...
Current:

Abarth 595 Comp.
Golf Clipper - collectors item
Z4 3.0si Black Sapphire
VW ID.3

Previous:
Z4M Silver Grey - non flimper spec (gone to Bing)

:P

As I've said before the Michelin ZP are far more comfortable than the standard Bridgestones - my car was transformed in many (if not all) of the ways the people who have ditched RFT rave about. Just not many people believe me :)

on cost though I wouldn't call them relatively cheap :o

Where are you? I could always give you a ride if not too far away ?

i got a loan car with the michelin run-flats and as gannet says, they are way better than the unbelievably shi** run shi*s that bridgestone offer.

I think the new runflat's are fantastic on the E89, even in sport mode it's a better ride than my old E85 :)

Asking for comfortable frunflats is the same thing as asking for an amiable mother-in-law

 on the PS2 ZPs. They cost just a little less than the Bridgestones, but the wear rating is much more so in the end they'll cost less. Winter was a bit fun with them, but we had below normal temps. Warmer weather has made them stick like glue. Fun!

I also sport the PS2 ZP's, and they're definately superior to the Bridgestones. Ride's a lot better (still firm, but less crashy), and there's more grip.

The only downside is that, compared to the RE050A's, they're bordering on slicks so (as suggested above) they can be "interesting" in heavy rain, and they're totally useless in snow. I mean laughable. But then the car was never great in snow, even on the OEM tyre, so that's no great loss.

X2 the Bridgestones on the E89 are not that bad at all, barely harder than the SLK with non runflats we had before
2016 SLK 250CDI AMG Sport, Indium grey.
2013 SLK 250CDI AMG Sport, Tenorite silver.
2012 transit van, white of course!
2004 Honda CRV (dog mobile) dirty blue!

Yes I changed to Falkens on my old Z and as I say the ride is a lot better on 19" than a non-runflat sport suspension 18" E85 so will not change mine :driving:

My Falkens also wore out quicker

I ran on the original Bridgestones for the first year of ownership, I now have Continental contisport 2 SSR on the rear and they have transformed the ride :D
