I got a few months ago a 3.0si coupe.
I recently took a massive trip from the UK to Switzerland! I really enjoy that car. I did before the trip the oil, oil/air-filter change before the trip. I also changed the front lights (as they had a burn mark, but I'm not sure what happened) with some new angel lights (which look even nicer).
I just passed the MOT as well:
- Nearside Rear Tyre has a cut but not deep enough to reach the ply or cords (5.2.3 (d) (i))
- Offside Rear Tyre has a cut but not deep enough to reach the ply or cords (5.2.3 (d) (i))
- Rear Sub-frame corroded but not seriously weakened (5.3.3 (b) (i))
- Items removed from driver's view prior to test
- Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material all covered in grease or other material (1.1.11 (c))
- Oil leak, but not excessive gearbox (8.4.1 (a) (i))
- Offside Rear Coil spring corroded (5.3.1 (b) (i))
3. It is quite superficial, but I will be starting to take care of it now before Autumn arrives. Any suggestions on what to use? I had used the 3M undercoating in the past in another car, so that should do the trick, right?
5. Doesn't say what brake pipe is having the issue, but could this be the time to change all brake pipes to be safe? I did some research regarding the brake lines as well (didn't see any benefit to add the steel brake lines).
6. Gasket? Time to service the suspension, probably? I contacted the BMW dealership when I first bought the car, and they said they wouldn't recommend touching it unless an issue is present. In general, I do not trust dealerships.
7. Time for some new springs. I was researching and saw that Eibachs are a good choice. Not a big fan of dropping the ride height, too many speed bumps in my area. In general, quite curious about the suspension parts, and have been researching dampeners, bushings, etc. Any suggestions are more than welcome! If I put Eibachs, for example, would I need to tell insurance that I modified?
