ZM versus i8

Post by CliveN » Sat Jan 25, 2025 10:07 pm

Thank you for responding Iain. I saw you and thought debate was necessary - and all in the best possible taste! Funnily enough I don’t consider the i8 to be an EV - it’s just another nice car. I am glad that it has an ICE. I don’t like proper EVs at all for all sorts of reasons real and imagined. And I intend to keep our little Fiat 500 until I can no longer drive. No more new (post 2022) nanny state cars for me unless I have got to the stage where I actually need it to drive me around….

Apologies if I didn't make the distinction clear, but for me an i8 is a Hybrid - definitely not an EV!

I8 is meh, econobox mini engine makes it feel low rent and very impractical too. Do it properly and get an R8, preferably with a v10
Silver Grey 2007 Z4MR which needs to be driven more  :P  :D

At least the i8 has rear seats. OK, they're rear seats in the same way as a 911 or MG BGT, but you can get shopping on them.

I went to look at one last year as an alternative to the MC - it sold an hour before I got there. Then 2 weeks ago I took Ann to see an E-tron GT RS, missed that by 2 hours as well :( How can spending money be this hard?
2006 Imola Z4MC (wife's shopping trolley)
1990 Toyota Carina (Started as a free family heirloom, now apparently a Classic)
2016 Toyota Avensis 1.6D (yup, the *really* slow one).
2011 TDM900
1997 VFR750 project. 95% complete. Only 30% left to do.
