I remember tv show That's Life discussing TR7 bursting into flames in the 80's. The US transport authority said publicly, but UK covered it up.
My car caught fire, under dash wiring.

All my 5 TR7s and TR8s were faultless…mind you they were all new and I only had them for about 6-9 months before a new one..

The only issue I had was a tendency to snap oversteer ..my friend sent the car , me and my girlfriend backwards down a M4 slip road..

In the USA the Ford Pinto would burst into flames when the fuel tank would often rupture in a crash.

Ford deemed it would be cheaper to settle lawsuits for people getting killed rather than recalling and fixing the cars.

These days the USA does seem better to force action for reliability issues as well as safety issues.
