Door speaker wiring

Post by .adam. » Thu Jan 23, 2025 12:08 pm

I'm planning on fitting some door speakers by tapping in to the tweeters, and wanted to confirm the wiring, as I don't want to wire them in wrong! Am I correct in thinking that it should be added in like this?

That's how I did it, and it works. The only thing I couldn't confirm was which terminal is which - so, a 50/50 chance of getting the speakers to be in-phase

Xenons, MFSW, cruise, PDC, wind deflector.

Did you try a Spotify phase check playlist for that?

And yes - that wiring is correct.

From memory, when I did this, I used a pair of speakers from behind the seats and used the looms that were on them, so the colours were more or less self explanatory.

Always happy to help if I can.

Thanks for the help all, didn't know you could phase check playlists and apps, that will be useful when I install them.

Haven't got a clue what you mean... I was referring to having the movement of the speaker cones in phase with each other. That is, the peaks and troughs of the sound sine waves from each speaker being aligned and not working contra. This gives better sound quality, especially bass I believe.

There are playlists available that demonstrate the phase of the speakers so you can hear if they are correctly wired. Just like there are frequency playlists that assist in finding rattles in the speaker setups. I have used both, great when I had to demo a speaker rattle in the Porsche when they could not replicate it.
