How to - E85 Z4 rear shock absorber fitting

Post by dhobbs » Fri Aug 25, 2017 4:43 pm

Just used this guide and thought it was really useful.

My only point to add, is to disconnect the xenon leveller switch on the offside swing-arm if you are replacing the springs at the same time. I had to push down on the hub to get the old spring out, and there is potential to damage the switch if it's still connected. Note, it's only if you have factory xenons!
3.0si roadster. Requisite stubby. Sound gen mod. LED numberplate lights. LED boot strip. Interior lights LED too. ZHP gearknob. Daily drive :driving:
Motor in boot. Bilstein B8 dampers. New radio, much better sounds

Why are all of the images in this post not available? It is really not very useful without the images!

Thanks,

Because Photobucket stops hosting photos after a while.

Use this link for photos (and guide) alongside this guide:

Its for Z4M, but the rear shock replacement is largely the same.

normkelly, where are you?
Would be happy to assist if you're near me.
In fact I did a pair yesterday. Once you know what's what the whole job only takes an hour.

I am in Reno, NV, so not even close to you.

Thanks for the offer, though! I really appreciate it!

From memory, I found my 2 biggest fears were unhooking the rubber strip from the tray & damaging the roof sensor clip.

Take it slow, be brave & you’ll be just fine
